This system, “Agri Palalay Mobile Application,” aims to provide information on proper rice farming sequences, ensuring that farmers have access to the knowledge and guidance . This study determined the problem that existed in the Municipality of Calinog focusing on the agricultural sector, specifically rice crop production. The overarching problem identified is the low yield of rice crops, primarily attributed to a dearth of information and technical expertise.

Specific challenges identified encompass a lack of knowledge among novice farmers, a scarcity of Agricultural Technicians, and a deficiency in accessible resources or Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials, hindering their ability to implement optimal agricultural practices. The Agri Palalay Mobile Application has been developed with the overarching goal of enhancing rice production in mind. The general objective is to increase rice production through the use of this Agri Palalay Mobile Application.

The System Development Life Cycle RAD (Rapid Application development) model was the method employed in the development of the Agri Palalay Mobile Application. It is composed of the system requirements planning, user design, construction and cutover.

The researchers strongly recommend to the Department of Agriculture, Municipal Agriculture Office of Calinog the implementation of the proposed system entitled,” Agri Palalay Mobile Application”, they can use this application to have a guide on rice farming activities from seed-bed, land preparation to harvesting which can help local beginner farmers. This application can be used in offline mode.

Background of the study 02

The Philippines ranks 8th globally in rice production, yet small-scale farmers, especially in places like Calinog, face challenges accessing proper rice management information. Pests and diseases lead to significant annual crop losses. To address this, the "Agri Palalay Mobile Application" was developed in collaboration with Calinog Municipal Agriculture.

The app guides farmers, particularly beginners, through each step of rice production, providing essential information on farming practices. Calinog, an agricultural town, supports farmers with technical assistance and training. The app aims to improve farming systems by offering step-by-step guidance and bridging the gap for beginner farmers, empowering them with valuable insights for sustainable agriculture.

The Agri Palalay Mobile Application is an application that can assist rice farmers in farming activities. Agri Palalay Mobile Application is a portable guide for rice farmers that can be used every time, especially some local beginner farmers who want to start farming activities with some features of farm inputs and pests and diseases of rice. It also gives useful information about the sequence or step-by-step of rice farming activities. This application gives importance to rice farming. It will apply basic communication through an Android phone which can assist and guide the local beginner rice farmers and gives information about rice pest and rice disease.

Findings 06

Observations, interviews, and analysis of the current system showed that the Rice Farmers struggle in times of farming activities, and The Agricultural technician also struggled in finding the best way to easily solve the problem without any hassle knowing in every barangay rice crop they visited has different problems.

With these findings, the researcher developed a mobile application called “Agri Palalay Mobile Application” for Rice farmers and Agricultural technicians. This system aimed to help the Rice Farmers easily with the use of the mobile application platform.

After long studies and a series of investigations about the system and after the problems were identified, the researcher concluded that the workload of the agricultural technicians as well as their time will be lessened. The proposed system Agri Palalay Mobile Application will be effective to use by the rice farmers.

Their transactions will be easy, the rice farmers will acquire new knowledge and opinion about rice information, farm inputs, and pest and disease that will occur in the Rice.

With all the preceding discussions, the researchers strongly recommend to the Department of Agriculture, Municipal Agriculture Office of Calinog the implementation of the proposed system entitled,” Agri Palalay Mobile Application”, they can use this application to have a guide on rice farming activities from land preparation to harvesting which can help local beginner farmers. This application can use in offline mode.
