Social Institutions Institution: An institution is a system of norms to achieve some goal or activity. Social institutions: Fulfill your basic or spiritual needs. Ian- Robertson: Institutions is a stable cluster norms, values, status, role. RT-Schaefer: Institutions are organized patter of beliefs and behavior.
Characteristics Stable position and permanent structure: Special structure just as family, husband, wife and children Structure existing since ancient times .
