Solar Power… Solar power is the conversion of energy from sunlight into electricity, either directly using photovoltaics(PV ), indirectly using concentrated solar power, or a combination. Concentrated solar power systems use lenses or mirrors & tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam. Photovoltaic cells convert light into an electric current using the photovoltaic effect .

Photovoltaic solar plants work ing As light hits the solar panels(Modules) , the solar radiation is converted into direct current(DC ). The direct current flows from the panels and is converted in to alternating current ( AC) used by local electric utilities . Finally the electricity travels through transformers and voltage is boosted for delivery onto transmission lines so local electric utilities can distribute electricity to homes and businesses .
Sola r -Ther m al plan t s w orking Solar collectors capture and concentrate sunlight to heat a synthetic oil, which then heats water to create steam. The steam is piped to an onsite turbine-generator to produce electricity, which is then transmitted over power lines. On cloudy days, the plant has a supplementary natural gas boiler. The plant can burn natural gas to heat the water , creating steam to generate electricity.

PV Module Working Sunlight striking the photovoltaic cell is absorbed by the cell . The energy of the absorbed light generates particles with positive or negative charge ( holes and electrons ), which move about or shift freely in all directions within the cell .
Function of Combiner Box The DC combiner box is a device that combines the output from multiple PV modules or multiple strings for connection to the inverter . It is typically used in the larger commercial PV power plants. AC Combiner is used to combine AC Output From Multiple Inverters.
Function of Inverter A solar inverter or PV inverter, converts the direct current(DC ) output of a (PV) solar panel into alternating current(AC ) that can be fed into a commercial electrical grid or used by a residential electrical network.
Monitoring & Control Unit These basically consists of dataloggers: A data logger (also data logger or data recorder) is an electronic device that records data over time or in relation to location either with a built in instrument or sensor or via external instruments and sensors. Eg . LGate101 , LGate360, Aquasuite . They are used for monitoring residential Solar PV systems. Designed to collect ,store & upload energy data allowing both system installers & owners to efficiently manage solar assets.
Net Metering W hen solar panels generate more electricity than the homeowner can use in an area that has net metering , the excess electricity flows back to the grid to serve nearby neighbours while your meter essentially runs backwards.
Pros and Cons of Solar Energy Pros Renewable Energy Source Reduces Electricity Bills Low Maintenance Costs Cons High Initial Purchase cost Weather Dependent Uses a Lot of Space
Solar Power Generation Process So basically the process of solar energy generation starts with sun rays falling on the PV Modules due to which electron gets charged and starts moving freely which generates DC current . This generated dc current is fed to dc combiner box for combining multiple strings output of pv modules and then dc current from combiner box is sent to Inverter for converting it into AC from DC. Multiple Inverters Output is sent to AC combiner box & then from AC combiner box to residential supply or to grid via net metering.
