2. STANDARD DIMENSION OF THE PLAYING AREA

3. STANDARD HEIGHT OF NET Placed vertically over the centre line there is a net whose top is set at the height of 2.43 m for men and 2.24 m for women. Its height is measured from the centre of the playing court. The net height (over the two side lines) must be exactly the same and must not exceed the official height by more than 2 cm.

5. WHAT ARE THE ROLES OF TEAM CAPTAIN, COACH, ASST. COACH, FIRST REFEREE, SECOND REFEREE, LINE JUDGES AND SCORERKEEPER?

6. During the game, only the Team Captains are allowed to make complaints and inquiries. The Liberos can be either team or game captain. TEAM CAPTAIN

7. COACH Throughout the match, the coach conducts the play of his/her team from outside the playing court. He/she selects the starting line-ups, the substitutes, and takes time-outs. In these functions his/her contacting official is the 2nd referee.

8. ASST. COACH The assistant coach sits on the team bench, but has no right to intervene in the match.

9. FIRST REFEREE The first referee is in charge from the beginning of the match until the end. The first referee has authority over all other members of the officiating crew.

10. FIRST REFEREE The first referee should talk to all the officiating crew members before the match starts, going over any questions officials might have about their responsibilities.  The first referee should have a talk with the second referee before the match starts discussing issues such as pre-match protocol and anything that will help the match run more smoothly.

11. SECOND REFEREE The second referee should establish a rapport with the scorekeeper and libero tracker. If the scorer and libero tracker have a problem or don't understand something, they should be comfortable enough to ask the second referee for help.

12. SCOREKEEPER The scorekeeper's main job is to make sure the score is correct at all times. The scorekeeper uses a score sheet to keep track of the game.

13. LINE JUDGE If only two line judges are used, they stand at the corner of the endline that is closest to the right hand of each referee, diagonally from the corner. The line judges watch the endline and sideline of their respective corners.

14. LINE JUDGE Line judge's main responsibility is to make signals to help out the referees in making judgment calls. Line judges may be instructed to use flags to make the signals.
