Main Sports of Germany Germany is one of the leading sports nations in the world. There is hardly a sports discipline in which German athletes do not rank among the best. The favourite sport in the federal republic is undoubtedly football, a game that has brought immense achievements to Germany, as the country is the third most powerful worldwide. Other sports like basketball, motor sports, winter sports and lots of other individual and team sports enjoy great popularity in Germany. The excellent stadiums and sport facilities throughout the country make sports easily accessible for all people and contribute to the success of the nation

Football Team

Football Germany is home of Passionate fans and players, the fans are so dedicated that the streets of Germany during world cup are barren. Bundesliga (Federal League) is the highest level league. Germany has won first title in 1954 There are over 2600 football clubs in Germany Die Deutsche was founded in 2000.Roughly 80% of Germans plays football . Formula One Racing/ Formel 1

Michael Schumacher is the most successful pilot in the history of Formula One and one of the greatest sports figures sport has ever seen. The German legend holds a total of 31 different records in Formula One with his seven titles in 1994, 1995, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005, 91 victories achieved in 250 races and 1,369 points scored. Among his countless prizes, the two “German Sportsman of the Year” and two “ Laureus World Sportsman of the Year” awards should be mentioned. Ice Hockey Team

Ice hockey is one of the more popular sports in Germany , however it still ranks far behind football in spectator favour and meaning. Ice hockey is organized today in Germany by the Deutsche Eishockey Liga , the highest professional league, and by the Deutschemark Eishockey -Bund ice hockey federation, which is the sport's federation in Germany and a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation. The  Men's German national ice hockey team  stands eighth in the world on the current IIHF rank list. The German national basketball team for men is the basketball side that represents Germany in international competitions. It is organized and run by the German Basketball Federation. Their biggest successes are the victory in the European Championship of 1993 at home in Germany. the silver medal in the 2005 European Championships  the bronze medal in the 2002 FIBA World Championship. The  Deutsche Tennis Bund  (English:  German Tennis Federation , short form: DTB) is the governing body of tennis federations and clubs in Germany. It is the largest tennis federation in the world with more than 1.800.000 members. Founded in 1902 it is one of the oldest sport federations of the world.
