Introduction
Hello there, I'm Rayna and I take a geometry
course taught by my teacher Ms. Bush. The
goal of this project is to teach you about the
characteristics of my special parallelogram,
the square.
Basic Properties
●The square has four right angles, the
diagonals are congruent and all four sides
are congruent, opposite sides are parallel,
diagonals bisect each other at right angles,
and the diagonals are congruent.
●Also, both opposite sides are congruent,
both pairs of opposite angles are congruent,
one pair of opposite sides are congruent and
parallel.
Specific Properties
My square is unlike any other parallelogram
because my square has adjacent angles that
are equal. A rhombus is a quadrilateral with
four equal sides and a square is a quadrilateral
with four right angles. A square is especially
unlike others because all angles add up to
ninety degrees.
Comparison
This parallelogram is similar to others
because, it has four right angles, similar to a
rectangle and a rhombus and it has
perpendicular sides similar to a rectangle.
And the diagonals are congruent similar to a
rectangle. The diagonal bisect opposite
angles similar to a rhombus.
Contrast
The square has four equal sides and four
equal angles no other quadrilaterals satisfies
both. Its diagonals intersect forming 90
degree angles. A square has four sides of
equal lengths.
Big Picture- Venn Diagram
Quadrilaterals
A four sided polygon, It
contains squares, rectangles
and trapezoids. Parallelograms
A particular 4 sided shape that
has different sets of parallel
sides, that are differing lengths
that are also parallel to each
other
All of the parallelograms are
similar to one another because,
each of their angles must add up
to a total of 360°. Therefore
each angle equals 90°.
Rectangles opposite sides are all
parallel. Plus, they each have
four sides. In addition to the
fact that, they each are
quadrilaterals.
Problem
The measures of two consecutive angles of
a square are in duration 5:4. What is the
measure of an obtuse angle of a
parallelogram?
Solve
5x+4x=180
9x=180
9x = 9x
x=20
5(20)=100
Obtuse angle= 100
Conclusion
In conclusion, this project has taught me a lot of new
information about squares. For example, I learned that;
in a square there at least have to be two congruent
sides, and I learned that a rectangle is a plane figure,
the adjacent angles are equal and each angle equals 90°.
The most surprising thing I found out during this project
was the similar traits each shape has. I also enjoyed
Photo Story a lot because the special effects are amazing
plus it had many unique components which allowed me
to create an even more interesting story about my
shape, it allows me to animate my work, insert the
pictures I needed when necessary and it made my work
even more presentable.
