INTRODUCTION
Stock Exchangeis a vital components of
a stock market. It facilitates the
transaction between traders of financial
instruments and targeted buyers. A stock
exchange in India adheres to a set of
rules and regulations directed by
securities and exchange board of India or
SEBI.
It is a platform where buyers and sellers
come together to trade financial tools
during specific hours of any business day
while adhering to SEBI's well defined
guidelines. However, only those
companies who are listed in astock
exchange are allowed to trade in it.

FUNCTIONS OF STOCK
EXCHANGE
ECONOMIC BAROMETER
•A stock exchange is
reliable barometer to
measure the economic
condition of a country.
•Thepricingof shares
fluctuates with every
significantchange in the
countryand economy.
•Ifthe price rises,it
indicates boom, whereas
if the pricefalls, it
indicates a recession
cycle.
PRICING OF SECURITIES
•Based on demand and
supply factors, the stock
exchange helps to value
securities. The securities
offered by profitable
companies focused on
growth tend to have a
higher value than other
companies securities.
•Pricingof
securitiesenables
investors,creditors and
government organizations
to perform their respective
functions.
SAFETY OF TRANSACTIONS
•All companies listed on the
stock exchange are well
regulated. They must adhere to
the legal framework given by
the regulator for listing. As a
result, it ensures transactional
safety. In India, SEBI regulates
the trading of securities.

•This function of the stock
exchange is encouraging
investors by providing
information about equity market
investment. It educates people
about investment, highlights
new issues, and regulates better
trading of securities.
ECONOMIC GROWTH
•The stock exchange
facilitates buying and selling
of securities of various
listed companies. The
process of buying and
selling or trading involves
continuous reinvestment
and disinvestment which
provides opportunity for
capital formation. Therefore,
it leads to economic growth.
LIQUIDITY
•The most vital
functions of the
stock exchange is
offering a secure
and easy to use
platform for trading
securities. In
addition, it instils
confidence
amongst the
investors that they
can convert their
investments into
cash.

FUNCTIONS OF STOCK

•The stocks of profit making
companies are actively traded
on the stock exchange. The
general public is not
comfortable investing in
securities of loss making
companies. As a result, it is
easier for profit making
businesses to raise fresh capital
from the equity market. The
stock market enables investors
to allocate their capital better
and generate maximum profit
earnings.
SCOPE FOR SPECULATION
•To ensure liquidity and
demand of supply of
securities the stock
exchange permits healthy
speculation of securities.
PROMOTE SAVING AND
INVESTMENT
•The stock market
offersattractive
opportunities of
investment in various
securities.

opportunities encourage
people to save more and
invest insecurities of
corporate sector rather
than investing in
unproductive assets.

9BOMBAY STOCK EXCHANGE(BSE)
The Bombay stock exchange(BSE)is an Indian stock exchange is the leading
stock exchange under the ownership of Ministry of Finance, Government of India. It
is
located on Dalal Street in Mumbai. Established in 1875 by cotton merchant
Prem Chand Roychand, a Jain businessman, it is the oldest stock exchange in Asia,
and also the 10th oldest in the world. The BSE is the 8th largest stock exchange
with an overall market capitalization in the world with more than
Rs276.713 lakh crore, as of January 2022 more than 5,000
companies are listed on BSE.

The Bombay Stock Exchange is India's largest and earliest
securities market. It is also Asia's first stock exchange. It had its
origin in the 1850s when group of about 20 stockbrokers met
under banyan trees in the streets of Bombay.
Their location changed frequently as the size of the group
increased. The group moved to what is now called Dalal Street
(meaning broker's street) in 1874.
Finally, in 1875, eminent businessman PremchandRoychand
officially founded the Native Share and Stock Brokers Association
which was later renamed the Bombay Stock Exchange.

11HISTORY OF BSE
On 31 August 1957, the BSE became the first stock exchange to be
recognized by the Indian Government under the securities contracts
regulation act. In 1986, it developed the BSE SENSEX Inder, giving the
BSE a means to measure overall performance of the exchange. In 2000,
the BSE used this index to open its derivatives market, trading SENSEX
futures contracts. The development of SENSEX option along with equity
derivatives following in 2001 and 2002, expanding the BSt's brading
platform.
The BSE is also a partner exchange of the United Nations.
Sustainable Stock Exchange initiative, joining
in September 2021.

TATA CONSULTANCY SERVICES
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is an Indian multinational information technology services
and consulting company with its headquarters in Mumbai. It is a part of TATA group and
operates in 150 locations across 46 countries. In July 2022, it was reported that TCS had
crossed 6 lakh employees worldwide.
TCS is the second largest Indian Company by market capitalization and is among the most
valuable IT service brands worldwide. In 2015, TCS was ranked 64
th
overall in the Forbes
“World’s most Innovative Companies” ranking, making it one of the highest-ranked IT
services companies and a top Indian company.
In 2016-17, parent company Tata sons owned 72.05% of TCS and more than 70% of Tata sons
dividends were generated by TCS. In March 2018, Tata Sons sold stocks of TCS worth $1.25
billion in a bulk deal. As of 15 September 2021, TCS has recorded a market capitalization of
US$200 billion.
