Structure and Bonding: Lesson 2: Ions and ionic bonds Learning Objectives: Describe the formation of ions by electron loss or gain. Describe the formation of ionic bonds between elements from Groups I and VII .
Stability of the Elements Family of Noble Gases Group (Group 0) has valency of 2 or 8 and the most stable one. In order to gain stability all elements beside Noble Gases Group will have to get loss/ gain electron by sharing. This condition makes them to form IONS.
