What is a cell? Mercury takes a little more than 58 days to complete its rotation, so try to imagine how long days must be there! Since the temperatures are so extreme, albeit not as extreme as on Venus, Mercury has been deemed to be non-habitable for humans Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun and the smallest one in the entire Solar System. Contrary to popular belief, this planet’s name has nothing to do with the liquid metal. Mercury was, instead, named after the famous Roman messenger god Mercurius

Importance of cells in living organisms Do you know what helps you make your point crystal clear? Lists like this one: They’re simple You can organize your ideas clearly You’ll never forget to buy milk! And the most important thing: the audience won’t miss the point of your presentation

Plant cells vs. animal cells Venus has a beautiful name and is the second planet from the Sun. It’s hot and has a very poisonous atmosphere Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun and the smallest one in the Solar System—it’s only a bit larger than the Moon Plant cells Animal cells

Principal differences Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun and the smallest of them all Venus has a beautiful name and is the second planet from the Sun Despite being red, Mars is actually a cold place. It’s full of iron oxide dust Cell wall Chloroplasts Vacuoles

Cells types Mars is actually a very cold place Venus has extremely high temperatures Jupiter is the biggest planet of them all Saturn is a gas giant and has several rings Prokaryotic cells Red blood cells Eukaryotic cells Nerve cells

A wesome words

“This is a quote, words full of wisdom that someone important said and can make the reader get inspired” —Someone Famous

A picture is worth a thousand words

A picture always reinforces the concept Images reveal large amounts of data, so remember: use an image instead of a long text. Your audience will appreciate it

98,300,000 Big numbers catch your audience’s attention

Jupiter’s rotation period 9 h 55m 23s 333,000 The Sun’s mass compared to Earth’s 386,000 km Distance between Earth and the Moon

Cell types in the human body Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun and the smallest of them all Blood cells Venus has a beautiful name and is the second planet from the Sun Nerve cells Despite being red, Mars is actually a cold place. It’s full of iron oxide dust Muscle cells 50% 75% 25 %

Exercises 05 You can enter a subtitle here if you need it

Exercise 1: multiple choice Which of the following organelles is responsible for producing energy in the form of ATP? A. Golgi apparatus B. Nucleus C. Mitochondria D. Lysosome What is the function of the lysosome? A. Synthesizing proteins B. Storing water and nutrients C. Breaking down cellular waste D. Producing ATP Color the cell that contains the correct answer. There is only one correct answer 1. C / 2. C Delete this box to see the answers

Exercise 2: fill in the blanks Fill in the blanks with the appropriate terms The __________ is responsible for controlling the entry and exit of substances into the cell and plays a role in cell signaling and communication The __________ is the fluid-filled region within the cell that houses organelles and is the site of various metabolic reactions The __________ is often referred to as the "powerhouse" of the cell because it produces energy in the form of ATP through cellular respiration The __________ is the organelle that contains the genetic information in the form of DNA and regulates cell growth, reproduction, and activities 1. Cell membrane / 2. C ytoplasm / 3.mitochondria / 4.nucleus Delete this box to see the answers

Exercise 3: matching Match the given cell structures with their corresponding functions 1D / 2A / 3B / 4E / 5D Delete this box to see the answers C. Produces energy in the form of ATP 1. Mitochondria A. Site of protein synthesis 2. Ribosome 3 . Cell membrane 4 . Nucleus 5 . Golgi apparatus B. Controls passage of substances of the cell E . Contains genetic information & regulates cell activities D . Modifies, sorts, and packages proteins for transport
