System Model Abdul Rashed Barakzai

What is System? System is a group of Interconnected elements or parts that works according to a set of rules and regulation form a unified whole. System can be effected by the environment. Or System is an organized collection of parts ( or subsystem) that are highly integrated to accomplish an overall Goal. System can have different input which go though certain processes to produce certain outputs, which together, accomplished the desirable Goal.

Continue… Sub System: is a part of a system where the products of more than one system are combined to reach the goal Close System: Stand alone system that has no contract with other system Open System: System that interfaces with other system

System Development System Development is set of activities It includes Guidance It needs to be Planed It should be performed step by step System Development has Five large categories These categories are called phases

System Development Life Cycle

System Development Life Cycle 1. Planning Review Project Requests Prioritize Project Request Allocate Resources Identify Project Development Team 2. Analysis Conduct Preliminary Investigation Preform detailed analysis activity Study current system Determine user requirements Recommendation for Solution

System Development Life Cycle 3. Designing Required software and Hardware Developed detail of System Keep monitoring in Designing Compare the requirement and Designing 4. Implementation Develop Programs, if necessary Install and Test new System Train and educate users Convert to new System

System Development Life Cycle 5. Support or Maintenance Conduct Post implementation system review Identify Errors and Enhancements Monitoring system Performance Training Troubleshooting if requried

Data Flow Diagram (DFD) DFD were popularized in late 1970s It is a map our the flow of information for any process or system It uses symbols like rectangles, Circles, Arrows & etc DFD is a model that describe the data and processes in the system

Components of a System? Computer Hardware Computer Software Telecommunication/ LAN & WAN Database or Storage Human Resource and procedure

Components of MIS Model Organization Problem Solver: Outputs are used by persons who are responsible for solving the form problems ( Say Manager, Director or Senior Level Management. Database: Its contents are used by software that produces report as well mathematical Reports Report Writing Software: It produces both periodic and special Report Environment: The Environment is of great importance to the firm it is the very reason of the firms existence.

Management Information System Models Model is Abstraction of Something it represents It is some phenomenon It is also called entity Example: Model Represents a firm Types of Model: Physical Model Narrative Models Mathematical Model Graph Model

Continue… Physical Model: It is a model that exist in three-dimensional forms. Example: Clay model of the new automobile developed by designer. Narrative Models: It is created by verbal or written description. Also, these can be created any where without much resources hence they are most popular. Graphs: It is usually a two dimensional diagram. For example, Graphs and Charts Mathematical Models: It is uses symbolic notations and mathematical equations to represent a system. It can be represented by 3-D also.

Organization System Model It is a structure approach It Descripts how an organization operates as a systemic whole. It can be use for current and future analysis Guideline: Problem/ Solution Tactics/ Helpful Hints Resources/ Timing Strategic Planning
