Consisten en una serie de curvas
percentiles que ilustran la distribucion
de medidas especificas del cuerpo para
el desarrollo de los niños.
Las tablas percentilares son utilizadas
por medicos, enfermeras y los padres
para medir el crecimiento de los
infantes, niños y adolecentes desde
1977 solo para los niños americanos.

Fueron implementados por la NCHS
como una herramienta clinica para el
profesional de la salud para el
adecuado crecimiento del niño sea
adecuado.
No pretenden ser utilizados como un
instrumento diagnostico.

En el 2000 la CDC adapto estos
cuadros para la poblacion mundial y
agrego el IMC.
Actualmente se cuenta con 10 cuadros
5 para niño y 5 para niñas.
Cuentan con el sistema metrico decimal
en (Kg y metros) y el sistema ingles en
(lb y in).
