BEFORE YOU START Disconnect Power : Unplug the TV from the wall outlet and remove the power cord Prepare Your Workspace : Ensure the area is clean, dry, and free of liquids. Gather Tools : Have the necessary tools ready, but avoid using metal instruments that could damage components or cause a short circuit. Wear PPE : Use an anti-static wrist strap to prevent electrostatic discharge, which can damage sensitive electronic parts. SAFETY FIRST! OHS- Reminders
DURING DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY Handle with Care: Hold components by their edges and avoid touching the Integrated Circuits (ICs). Don't Use Force : If a part doesn't come out easily, check for hidden screws or clips rather than forcing it. Be Aware of Sharp Parts : Some internal components or their connections can have sharp edges, so handle them carefully.
5'S 1 . Sort ( Seiri ): · Action: Before starting, gather and remove all unnecessary tools, parts, and materials from your workspace. Only keep what is essential for the disassembly of the LED TV.
5'S 2. Set in Order ( Seiton ): Action: Arrange the necessary tools and parts in an organized manner, positioning them for easy access and return to their designated spots. This also applies to the TV's components.
5'S 3. Shine ( Seisou ): · Action: Clean the TV thoroughly before disassembly. As you take components apart, ensure that each part and the TV case are cleaned.
5'S 4. Standardize ( Seiketsu ): Action: Develop a consistent, standardized approach for disassembling the TV, ensuring each step is followed in the same way every time.
5'S 5. Sustain ( Shitsuke ): · Action: Maintain the organized system & the discipline to follow the standardized process over time , ensuring that good practices are continued even after the disassembly is complete.
SCREWDRIVER SET You'll need screwdrivers in different types and sizes, including flat-head, Phillips-head, and possibly Torx drivers, to remove screws from the TV's casing and internal components.
PLASTIC PRY TOOLS OR OLD CREDIT CARD To seperate the plastic bezel and back cover without causing damage, use a thin, non-metallic tool like an old credit card or a specialized plastic pry tool.
PLIERS A variety of pliers, such as needle-nose or long-nose pliers, can be helpful for manipulating small parts and cables.
WIRE CUTTER/NIPPER A wire cutter is useful for cutting any zip ties or wires that may be securing components.
ANTI-STATIC WRIST STRAP Since TVs contain se nsitive e l ectr o nic c omponen t s, wear ing an anti-stat i c wr is t st r ap i s crucial to prevent damage from static electricity.
