Brainstorming
Help to make decisions Use to solve problems It helps build collaboration Use to generate ideas What is Brainstorming?
How to make brainstorming effective?
Foster an open and non-judgmental atmosphere where team members feel comfortable sharing their ideas. Create a positive environment
Define the goal Clearly outline the problem or goal you're trying to address. Having a focused objective helps guide the brainstorming process.
Diverse Team Assemble a diverse team with different backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. Diversity can lead to a wider range of ideas
Time Constraints Set a time limit for the brainstorming session to keep the team focused and to encourage quick idea generation.
Use a facilitator Designate someone to facilitate the session and keep it on track. This person can also help capture ideas, ensure everyone has a chance to speak, and manage time
Silent Brainstorming Have team members write down their ideas individually before sharing them with the group. This can be helpful for introverted team members or those who prefer more reflection time.
Capture and Evaluate Document all ideas during the session. Afterward, evaluate and prioritize them as a team. This ensures that the most promising ideas are considered for implementation
Follow up Implement a plan to follow up on the brainstorming session. This could include refining ideas, assigning responsibilities, and establishing timelines for action.
NEPTUNE Decision Making Strategies with Groups Consensus Decision making Majority Vote Authority Based Decision Making Nominal Group Technique
Consensus Decision making is a way for a group of people to make a decision that everyone agrees with. Instead of voting or having just one person decide, everyone talks together, shares their ideas, and works as a team to find a solution that makes everyone happy. The goal is to make sure no one feels left out and that the group agrees on what to do.
Majority Vote This is when a group makes a decision by voting. Everyone gets to pick what they think is the best choice, and the option with the most votes wins. Even if not everyone agrees, the choice with the most votes is what the group goes with
Authority-Based Decision A designated leader or authority figure makes the final decision. The leader listens to others' ideas, but in the end, they decide what the group will do.
Delphi Method This strategy involves a series of structured questionnaires or surveys to collect insights from group members. The responses are analyzed, and the group is provided with a summary. This process is repeated until a consensus is reached. It's useful when dealing with complex or sensitive issues.
