ADDUCTOR GROUP BY SAYED SAMREEN T.Y.B.sc 108 DEPARTMENT OF ZOOLOGY MAHARASHTRA COLLEGE OF ARTS, SCIENCE AND COMMERCE.

ADDUCTOR GROUP The adductor group muscle are also known as groin muscle ,located on medial side of thigh. Function: Move thigh towards the body midline.

MUSCLES IN ADDUCTOR GROUP ADDUCTOR GROUP PECTINEUS ADDUCTOR ADDUCTOR ADDUCTOR GRACILIS (comb- like ) LONGUS BREVIS MAGNUS (slender-like) (Long- (Short- (Large- Muscle) Muscles) Muscles)

PECTINEUS MUSCLES It is a flat ,comb like quadrangular muscles situated at the anterior part and medial aspect of the thigh. ORIGIN: Superior ramus of pubis. INSERTION: Pectineal line of femur between lesser trochanter and linea aspera. INNERVATION: Femoral nerve. FUNCTION: Thigh- Flexion, Adduction. PECTINEUS MUSCLES Origin :-superior ramus of pubis Insertion:- linea aspera.

ADDUCTOR LONGUS It is the longest muscles in the human body which is located in the exact same plane as pectineus. It forms the medial wall of the femoral triangle. ORIGIN: Pubic body just below the pubic crest. INSERTION: Linea aspera of femur. INNERVATION: Obturator nerve. FUNTION: Adduction of hip, Flexion of hip joint . ADDUCTOR LONGUS Origin: -pubic crest. Insertion :-linea aspera

Adductor brevis The adductor brevis is a muscle in the thigh situated immediately deep to the pectineus muscles and adductor longus. ORIGIN: Inferior ramus of pubis. INSERTION: Superior half of linea aspera. INNERVATION: Obturator nerve. FUNTION: Adducts and flexes thigh and hip joint and rotates thigh. ADDUCTOR BREVIS LATERAL ROTATION MEDIAL ROTATION Origin :-Inferior ramus Insertion :-superior half of linea aspera

ADDUCTOR MAGNUS It is a large triangular muscle, situated on the medial side of the thigh. ORIGIN: Inferior ramus of pubis and ischium two ischial tuberosity. INSERTION: Linea aspera of femur INNERVATION: Obturator nerve FUNCTION: 1) Adduct thigh at hip joint and rotates thigh. 2) Anterior part flexes thigh at hip joint and posterior part extend thigh at hip joint. ADDUCTOR MAGNUS Origin :-Ischial tuberosity Insertion :-linea aspera

GRACILIS MUSCLES The gracilis muscles is the most superficial muscles on the medial side of the thigh. It is thin and flattened, broad above, narrow below. ORIGIN: Inferior ramus of pubis. INSERTION: P es anserine. INNERVATION: Obturator nerve. FUNTION: Adducts thigh at hip joint , medially rotates thigh and flexes leg at knee joint. GRACILIS Origin :-Inferior ramus Insertion :-Pes anserine
