The Concept

The Crystal is located in East London, a destination of extreme regeneration, 10 minutes from the
Olympic Park, London City Airport and next to the recently launched Emirates Cable Car. The
location is becoming as attractive as the building with a host of leisure, retail and residential projects
emerging with the Excel, Westfield Shopping Centre and 02 leisure district within easy reach.

The Crystal
•£30million investment from Siemens, who own a market share
worth of £300bn in the Water, Energy, Power, Transport and
Healthcare industries
•BREEAM AND LEED international assessments for energy efficient
buildings
•The Key Partners in the creation of the building were
Pringle Brandon, Arup, Wilkinson Eyre, Event
Communications, ISG and Turner & Townsend
•Building is a Think Tank for ideas, home of Siemens Centre of
Competence, focusing on building global sustainable partnerships
•The Mayor of London Boris Johnson opened the building in
September

•Not a drop of water is wasted due to everything being recycled or
reused
•Linked to Smart Building System, intelligent lighting means levels
will be automatically adjusted
•Connecting to a smart grid enables Siemens to actively cooperate
with the UK Low Carbon Initiative
•A dedicated on site waste storage area with separate units ensures
recycling of paper, plastics, metals and organic waste
