BACKGROUND OF STUDY The introduction of technologies such as the Internet of Things ( IoT ), cloud computing, and artificial intelligence has significantly altered inventory management by enabling more accurate demand forecasting, efficient resource allocation, and improved logistical coordination ( Dhodi Mohamed, 2018) Inventory management strategies have evolved from mere stock keeping to sophisticated systems integrating advanced analytics, forecasting and supply chain optimization ( Dhodi Mohamed, 2018 ).

Problem statement Effective inventory management which involves integrating modern ICT allows an organization to fulfill customers’ expectations of product availability while enhancing the retailer to achieve the golden balance of not holding too much stock thus minimize inventory costs( Dhodi Mohamed, 2018). Inventory management practices in Somali supermarkets are often traditional and may not fully utilize modern technological solutions, impacting efficiency and growth (World Bank, 2020).

Research objectives To investigate the challenges facing the use of technological innovation for inventory management in the supermarkets in Mogadishu To determine the affect of Technology and Automation on inventory on inventory Service Level in supermarkets in Mogadishu, Somalia To determine the impact of disruptive innovation technology on inventory management in supermarkets in Mogadishu, Somalia

Literature Review Literature Review will consists of, theory of inventory management , Concept of inventory management , Cost Effective Inventory Management, Customer Service Delivery, Information technology and Inventory Management , and Conceptual framework. Inventory is a contemporary asset to a firm, but it is expensive will uphold as it sits tight will transformed into future revenue. At the same time as extra inventory does growth costs, a scarcity of Inventory can also bring about misplaced sales (Shin, S., Ennis, K. L., & Spurlin , W. P. (2015).

Cost Effective Inventory Management Capital Cost Also sometimes called the interest or opportunity cost which type focuses upon what having capital tied up in inventory. The capital cost is frequently the largest component of inventory carrying cost. A company usually expresses it as a percentage of the value of the inventory the company holds. All companies seek to reduce inventory because management recognizes that holding excessive inventory provides no value added to the firm‘s operations. 2. Storage Space Cost: This cost category incorporates handling costs associated with moving Products into and out of inventory, and storage costs such as rent, heating, and lighting. Such Costs may vary considerably from one circumstance to the next.

Information technology and Inventory Management (Guan et al., 2016) examined the role of information and communication technology (ICT) in company’ inventormanagement . Questionnaires, interviews and observations were used as research methods . the impact of information and communication technology on inventory control system in transport organization. Questionnaires were used as the main data collection Descriptive statistics analysis method was to analyze the gathered data.

Research questions A research design is an arrangement of conditions for collection, measurement and analysis of data in a manner that aims to combine relevance to the research purpose with economy anprocedure ( Kothari.Pdf , n.d .). The study used a descriptive research design. Orodho (2003) indicates that a descriptive survey is used to establish the relationship between the variables. In this study, descriptive survey was used to explain the relationship between use of technology innovation in inventory management of supermarkets in Mogadisho .
