Definition Maternal Collapse An acute event involving the cardiorespiratory systems and/or central nervous systems, resulting in a reduced or absent conscious level, at any stage in pregnancy and up to 6 weeks after birth. This has the potential to lead to cardiac arrest and death.

Perimortem Caesarean Section (PMCS) If no response to CPR within 4 minutes of collapse or if resus attempt is continued beyond this, PMCS should be done to assist  It should not be delayed by moving the patient The incision used should facilitate rapid access Delivery of fetus and placenta: O 2  consumption       Venous return         Chest compressions               Cardiac output         Easier Ventilation
