EC18303-NETWORK TOPOLOGY
Unit-5

INTRODUCTION
•Solving complex networks using mesh or nodal
analysis is difficult.
•Network topology(graph theory approach) is
used for this purpose. By this method, a set of
linearly independent loop or node equations
can be written in a form that is suitable for a
computer solution.

•Graph (or linear graph):
A network graph is a network in which all nodes
and loops are retained but its branches are
represented by lines. The voltage sources are
replaced by short circuits and current sources
are replaced by open circuits.

Find the incidence from the following reduced
incidence matrix and also draw its graph

Sol.
•We know that for incidence matrix sum of
column elements is zero. Therefore,

Practice problems:
Find the incidence, Tie-set and f-cut set matrices for the
following graphs.
