INFLUENTIAL FACTORS IN URBAN DEVELOPMENT PRACTICAL RESEARCH 1 THE PROBLEM AND IT’S BACKGROUND INFLUENTIAL FACTORS IN URBAN DEVELOPMENT Chapter I

Chapter I introduces the research area and outlines the background and rationale of the study. It subsequently describes the aims of the present study and provides a chapter by chapter overview of the research.

Parts of Chapter I 3 Introduction Statement of the Problem Hypothesis Significance of the Study Scope and Limitations Definitionof Terms

Introduction 4 The  introduction  is your opportunity to show readers and researchers why your  research  topic is worth reading about and why your paper warrants their attention. The  introduction  serves multiple purposes. It presents the background to your  study , introduces your topic and aims, and gives an overview of the paper.

Statement of the Problem 6 A  statement of the problem  is used in  research  work as a claim that outlines the  problem  addressed by a  study . A good  research problem  should address an existing gap in knowledge in the field and lead to further  research

Hypothesis 8 A  research hypothesis  is a statement of expectation or prediction that will be tested by  research

Significance of the Study 10 In simple terms, the  significance of the study  is basically the importance of your  research . While stating the  significance , you must highlight how your  research  will be beneficial to the development of science and the society in general.

Scope and Delimitations 12 The  scope  details how in-depth your study is to explore the  research  question and the parameters in which it will operate in relation to the population and timeframe. The  delimitations  of a study are the factors and variables not to be included in the investigation

Definition of Terms 13 This gives your readers an understanding of the concepts or factors that will be discussed throughout your study, as well as contextual information as to how you will be using those concepts in your study.
