DONNAVE N. TORALDE Presenter The Reddin 3D Leadership Model MASTERS OF ARTS IN EDUCATION Major in Administration and Supervision ED-204-Supervision of Instruction DR. JUDITH MAIGE Professor

The Three-Dimensional Grid or 3-D Leadership Model Developed by Professor Bill Reddin, who introduced the concept of “ situational demands ” which talks about the way in which the leader must behave to be most effective. Introduction

The Reddin 3D Leadership Model offers a comprehensive framework for understanding and applying effective leadership. This model integrates three dimensions: T ask orientation People orientation, Adaptability or Effectiveness Introduction

Dimensions of Leadership TASKS DIMENSIONS Focuses on achieving specific goals, setting clear objectives, and efficiently organizing resources. Leaders with high task orientation prioritize productivity and results.

Dimensions of Leadership 2. PEOPLE DIMENSIONS Emphasizes building and maintaining relationships, demonstrating empathy, and fostering a supportive team environment.

Dimensions of Leadership 3. ADAPTABILITY or EFFECTIVENESS Concerns the impact of a leader's style in a particular situation or context. It's about knowing when to apply different leadership styles to achieve desired outcomes.

The Reddin 3D Leadership Model emphasizes that effective leadership involves balancing task objectives with interpersonal relationships. It identifies leadership styles and the importance of situational adaptability, allowing leaders to respond to diverse team dynamics and organizational needs. Key Concepts

Related Integrated Dedicated Separated The four basic leadership styles

Related -  A related leader enjoys team-based, cooperative working. They do not focus on directing or dictating orders to staff and allow much more freedom and responsibility. Example Situation: A team-building workshop or a creative agency, where a Related Manager leads a team of designers and artists. The four basic leadership styles

2. Integrated -  An integrated manager retains the cooperative nature of the group and encourages two-way communication. They emphasize the effectiveness of this communication and building a strong team capable of completing tasks to the best of their potential.  Example Situation: A technology startup with a dynamic environment, where an Integrated Manager leads a cross-functional team developing innovative software solutions. The four basic leadership styles

3. Dedicated -  A dedicated manager is only truly concerned with the end result of the task and focuses on improving the production process. They retain power and responsibility with themselves, allowing them to dictate roles and requirements to others. Example Situation: A manufacturing plant with high production targets, where a Dedicated Manager oversees a team of production line workers. The four basic leadership styles

4. Separated -  A separated manager focuses on correcting deviations from the norm. They formulate policies and rules and impose them on others but do not take a direct, commanding role on themselves. Example Situation: A government agency with strict protocols and procedures, where a Separated Manager is overseeing a team of clerical staff responsible for processing documents. The four basic leadership styles

The most difficult part of applying Reddin's theory is for managers to understand when to employ each of the different styles.

Situational Adaptability Situational adaptability is a core principle of the Reddin 3D Leadership Model. It emphasizes the need for leaders to assess their environment continuously and adjust their leadership style accordingly. This adaptability allows leaders to respond effectively to changing circumstances and varying team needs, ensuring that leadership remains relevant and impactful.

Importance in Organizations The Reddin 3D Leadership Model is crucial for organizations aiming to enhance their leadership effectiveness. By combining task orientation with people management and situational adaptability, this model guides leaders in making informed decisions that foster teamwork and achieve organizational goals. Implementing this framework can lead to improved productivity, employee satisfaction, and a positive organizational culture.

Conclusions The Reddin 3D Leadership Model provides a structured approach to understanding leadership effectiveness through a multidimensional lens. By integrating task orientation, people orientation, and adaptability, leaders are better equipped to navigate complexities in dynamic environments, fostering enhanced team performance and organizational success.

“ Any managerial style has a situation appropriate to it, and many situations inappropriate to it ” - William Reddin
