The Ship -- Rebecca J. Huseby
The ship sets sail upon a peaceful sea, Her regal banners wave in majesty, Her solid beams and timbers, sleek and long, Her wheel held firm, her pilot true and strong.
Her graceful bow the mirrored heavens break, As to my anxious eye, she shrinks away, Her billowed sails the sinking sun reflect, As on the edge of time her image slowly sets.
“… She is gone…” Though her size and form remain consistent, I perceive her fading, steadily from sight, ‘til, passing the horizon, slips away, I hear a trembling voice in anguish say…
I know the loss of sight is just in me, Her form, still graceful, sails the quiet sea, And somewhere far beyond my feeble sight, A distant shore, the dawn has pierced the night.
Though her size and form remain consistent, I perceive her fading, steadily from sight, ‘Till, passing the horizon, slips away, I hear a trembling voice in anguish say… “… She is gone…”
Take up a shout of joy and loudly sing, And dance for gladness, 'til all Heaven rings, For just as I have seen her sail from me, Others watching from eternity, shout… “… Here she comes!” Slideshow by: Kal-el
