Acknowledgments
This book is a revised and expanded version of a paper circulated in 2005
under the title ‘‘The Dual Source of Adjectives and Phrasal Movement in
the Romance DP.’’ It grows out of work presented in classes at the Uni-
versity of Venice in 2002, at UCLA in the winter quarter of 2003, at the
2005 Summer Institute of the Linguistic Society of America at Harvard
and MIT, at the LISSIM 4 Summer School in Kausani (India, June
2009), at the Ealing 2009 Summer School in Paris (September 2009), and
in talks at the Universities of Padua (June 2003), Tromsø (October 2003),
New York at Stony Brook (NELS 34, November 2003), Rome (31st
Incontro di Grammatica Generativa, February 2005), Lille III (Colloque
sur ‘‘Les Adjectifs,’’ September 2007), and the Chinese University of
