Long Term Goals
I have many short and long term goals set for myself. The time frame for short term goals is three to
five years and for long term goals, five to ten years. These time frames give me realistic and
measurable timelines to meet my goals. My short term goals that I have set for myself is to achieve the
best grades I can, receive my minor in psychology, graduate from Auburn by the end of 2018 or
beginning of 2019, do more work/volunteering with animals to gain animal experience hours, possibly
do a yearlong internship after I graduate, and apply for vet school. For the past two years, I have had
the same goals (to become a vet), however, now that I am in college, I am beginning to realize that
there may be other things I am interested in so, my

The Importance Of Modern Media
Modern Media Today s society revolves around the media. It is in sync with the clicks of a keyboard
and with the voices on the television. Every day individuals find it arduous to stroll down the street
without hearing the latest presidential or local controversy. Most toon into the news every morning
and night, like clockwork. Some cannot function without technology and media for extended periods
of time. Over generations, the media has been shaped by the social environment of the time period.
For example, the climate of 2017 has made audiences question the media. Nevertheless, even though
it may be unreliable and dishonest, the media is still necessary for the intent of keeping the public
informed and entertained. The media has always had two main purposes, and by accomplishing them,
companies hope to get more allegiance from their viewers. To keep the audiences watching, and
furthermore keep money flowing, the media educates and captivates people. To keep the business
afloat they want to show viewers what they want to see. Gladstone explains this through a comparison
of a myriad of mirrors. Even if they are not completely clear you can always find yourself, and the
people around you, inside (Gladstone xxi). Gladstone also questions, Are you safer not knowing if a
company dumps poison in your river? ... Are you safer not knowing why we invaded Iraq? (Gladstone
31). Knowledge is power, and the media provides that knowledge about things or places that
otherwise,

George Washington Secret Six Analysis
George Washington s Secret Six presents the somewhat untold story of the Culper spy ring. The ring
was formed after the death of Captain Nathan Hale who was Washington s first spy, in the aftermath of
his death Washington decided that he would do everything in his power to keep his spies from meeting
an unfortunate demise. With the help of Major Benjamin Tallmadge, the roots for the Culper spy ring
were laid. The ring was designed to keep the identities of the members a secret at all costs. The Culper
ring operated out of British occupied New York where all the members were generally considered to
be loyal to Britain. The ring s members were Abraham Woodhull, Robert Townsend, Caleb Brewster,
James Rivington, Benjamin Tallmadge, Austin Roe, and Agent 355. They communicated using
clothesline messaging, dead drops, invisible ink that only reacted to a secret chemical, code names,
and coded messages. The ring successfully brought light to Benedict Arnold s treason, the British plan
to ambush French troops as soon as they landed, as well as keeping accurate information on troops
and ships in New York. The ring only suffered the loss of one member, this was outstanding
considering that the ring was quite large and operated in British controlled New York. Given the
effectiveness of the ring, the Continental army might have been defeated if the Culper Spy Ring didn t
exist.
George Washington s Secret Six was constructed by Brian Kilmeade and Don Yeager. Kilmeade is a

The Odyssey Essay
The Odyssey is a Greek word meaning the tale of Odysseus. ; Odysseus, the King of Ithaca; husband
of Penelope; father of Telemachus; and son of Laertes was not able to return home after the war he
was once in: the Trojan War. Stuck on an island, he is presumed dead. In his absence, suitors for his
wife ruin his house with lavish feasts. This epic poem, by Homer, describes how Odysseus, with the
help of the gods, gets home and regains his kingship. Justice is always harsh in the Odyssey; there is
either no justice or a lot of it; the punishment however, is always severe. Justice in the Odyssey plays
out among these characters: Odysseus and his crew, the suitors, Poseidon, Aeolus, Hyperion,
Agamemnon, Aegisthus, Melanthius, Melantho, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Odysseus departed from Calypso s island, Poseidon noticed and wrecked havoc using his
powers of the sea: [Odysseus] heard the thunder of surf on a rocky coast. With an angry roar the great
seas were battering at the rocky land and all was veiled in spray. There were no coves, no harbours,
that would hold a ship; nothing but headlands jutting out, sheer rock and jagged reefs ; (pg. 81 82).
Also after the Phaeacians had helped Odysseus, Poseidon punished them for their kindness to his
enemy. Hyperion, the sun god, loved his cattle and told Odysseus and his crew not to eat them. When
the crew was starving, they slaughtered and ate Hyperion s cows. Hyperion demanded justice from the
gods: Father Zeus and you other blessed gods who live for ever, take vengeance on the followers of
Odysseus. . . They have criminally killed my cattle, the cattle that gave me such joy every day as I
climbed the starry sky and as I dropped down from heaven and sank once more to earth ; (pg. 190).
Zeus answered Hyperion and killed all of Odysseus crew. Aeolus had given Odysseus a large leather
bag, which contained the strong winds that could set them off course. Odysseus crew got curious and
opened the bag. All the strong winds hurried them off course, and they eventually landed back to
Aeolus island. They went to Aeolus and asked for help. However Aeolus was very mad for the crew s
carelessness and demanded that Odysseus and his crew leave the island: Get off this

Flowers For Algernon Comparison
Flowers for Algernon Compare/Contrast Essay
Flowers for Algernon is a short story by Daniel Keyes and the movie Charly, sends the message to not
change for society. An example from both, the short story, and the movie, is that Charlie Gordon has a
defect where he isn t smart like the others. He has an operation to make him smarter and to fit in with
everyone else. That operation caused him to become too smart and he lost all his friends. The movie,
Charly, changes the characterization, point of view, and symbolism of the story, Flowers for Algernon,
which makes the short story more effective.
The movie changes the characterization of Charlie. An example from the story is that the story focuses

Character Analysis Of Gene Forrester In A Separate Peace...
Gene Forrester is a character developed through his actions, dialogues, and thoughts that contribute to
his personality traits. Gene s thoughts and actions distinguish his personality from that of other
characters. Gene hides his true nature in the environment of the novel but exposes himself to the
reader through his thinking and reflection. Gene is revealed to be insecure and jealous through his
narration of the story. Firstly, Gene s insecurity and jealousy are unveiled through his actions,
thinking, and dialogue. By deciphering his reasoning behind his actions, the reader discovers Gene s
insecurity thriving beneath the surface. This is seen when Gene s close friend Phineas jokingly admits
that Gene becoming valedictorian would make him jealous and Gene reacts by thinking, Then a
second realization broke as clearly and bleakly as dawn at the beach. Finny had deliberately set out to
wreck my studies (Knowles, 53). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He describes this realization as clear and bleak which indicates he feels it is obvious that Finny intends
to sabotage Gene s academics. However, this is evidently uncharacteristic of Finny, and implies Gene
is misreading and unconsciously manipulating the situation to justify the fact he does not have an A in
one of his classes; he blames Finny for this. Gene s conjecture is a result of his attempt to defend
himself. Insecurity breeds defensiveness as his poor self confidence allowed him to feel threatened by
Finny s joking remarks and took his words sincerely. Due to Gene s defensive response, it displays his
weak self confidence, proving his insecurity. Another personality trait Gene possesses is jealousy. His
jealousy is exemplified in Gene s reaction when Finny is about to get in trouble, and he responds, This
time he wasn t going to get away with it. I could feel myself

The Vanquished Auguste Rodin Essay
Auguste Rodin was born in Paris in on November 12, 1840. He was born into a poor family and his
father was a policeman. Although he was a talented artist as a teenager, he lacked encouragement
which made him choose a different career. Rodin worked as a bricklayer for 20 years. Then he went to
Italy and during his stay he found inspiration there. On his return to Paris, he sculpted his first major
piece, The Age of Bronze , originally named The Vanquished . Rodin said that, Much as I love the
Greeks, there is one thing I love more and that is nature. (AMA 130). This is very true of his
sculptures. Although there is the presence of a body you can see the true nature of emotion through it.
School was hard for Rodin because he had a hard time reading, but he took interest in drawing. He
started taking art classes when he turned 13. This is when students and teachers gave him no
recognition on his art and Rodin started doubting himself. At 17 years old, he applied ... Show more

Italy is known for the deep art history with artists like Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael to name
just a few. Rodin was inspired so much by these artists that he made his first major piece, The
Vanquished . It was made in 1876 and stands at six feet tall, making it a life size sculpture of a nude
man. This sculpture showed his attention to such detail that when people came to see this sculpture
they did not like how real it looked. People rumored that it was a fake sculpture. In the 1800 s art had
to be made for a reason and it had to have a theme. It does not represent most art from that time that
had to with mythology. With its lack of purpose critics did not see The Vanquished as real art. All of
the criticisms made him change the name to The Age of Bronze . This also led to changing his style
from something realistic to more naturalistic abstracted ideas. To do this he stopped being detailed and
showed the inner turmoil s of human emotion through their

The Potential for a Severe Food Shortage in the United States
A severe shortage of food in the United States could occur from many causes. Farms could stop
growing crops and breeding animals. Some sort of bacteria could sweep through the country killing
different food plants. The more important part of the shortage of food however would not be the
causes, but the effects. The stance of the country s economy, the well being of middle and lower class
families, and the quality of stores that used to sell the products would all decline greatly if an event as
severe as an extreme shortage of food were to occur. General stores generate a large profit from the
sale of food. Some stores like Whole Foods and King Soopers do not sell much besides food products.
If there were to be a severe shortage of food, stores like Whole Foods, Walmart, Costco, and King
Soopers would take a severe hit in terms of income and the ability to compete with other stores. Places
like these would not be able to keep up financially if there were a lack of people buying their food
products. There are other non food products that these stores may sell, but these other products would
not be able to sell due to the fact that people would be focusing more on ways to get food rather than
buying a new T.V. or a new pair of shoes. Families in cities rely on general stores and health food
stores to obtain food products. A severe shortage of food throughout the country would raise
potentially difficult questions for families. Where are they going to get food now that stores

Explain the Constructivist Theory of Guidance
2 28 2012 Explaining Guidance Theories: Developmental, Behavioral, Constructivist. Question:
Explain Constructivist theory of guidance.
____________________________________________________________________________
Constructivism is rooted from philosophy just like sociology, ethnography and cognitive psychology.
Already in the eighteenth century, the German philosopher Kant believed that a child s learning was
an interaction between the developing child and the environment. He believed that children
constructed their own knowledge and understanding about things. This is a constructivist view of how
children learn (Bruce, Meggitt Grenier 2010). The child centered constructivist approach to early
childhood education has its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Anabolic Steroid Use by Athletes Essay
In the 1988 Summer Olympics, an unbelievable feat occurred. The feat happened during one of the
premiere events, the 100 meter dash. The event was set up to be a great race between Carl Lewis of
the United States and Ben Johnson of Canada. This did not happen. Ben Johnson blew away the field
running a 9.79, a world record. Carl Lewis finished a distant second with a 9.88 ( Ben Johnson ).
That is not the end of the story. Later on, the runners had to take a urinalysis. All of the runners passed
but one, Ben Johnson. He tested positive for anabolic steroid use. It was later discovered that he d
been using steroids for several years. He was striped of his gold medal and his world record. Carl
Lewis was given the gold and the world ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The final group is recreational drugs. This class is also illegal in athletics and contains drugs like
cocaine, crack, marijuana, and heroin. This class is more for social use than for the help it provides the
athlete, so they are used equally by athletes and non athletes ( The use of Anabolic . . . ).
Anabolic steroids technically called anabolic androgenic steroids are a part of erogenic drugs and a
member of the second classification. They are a synthetic derivative of the male hormone testosterone.
These drugs along with exercise training allow a person to bulk up greatly, which may enhance an
athletes ability in a sport ( The use of Anabolic . . . ).
The zeal to win is within us all, but some people are just willing to go to greater lengths to win.
Doping the use of drugs or other substances to improve one s performance started back even before
the Roman Empire. Greek wrestlers use to gorge themselves with large amounts of meat in hopes of
increasing muscle mass ( NIDA . . . ).
The first competitive athletes charged with doping were swimmers from Amsterdam. These
competitors would dope with anything from strychnine and caffeine to cocaine and heroin. Their
doping spread to other countries as well ( NIDA . . . ). Doping finally lead to a higher level, steroids.
The first steroids were created in the 1930 s,

The Surgeon In The Killer Angels
In all my years of medicine, being a surgeon in the middle of a Civil War, wasn t fun. I had more than

another, so really... how barbaric can these bloody angels get? It was 1863, the South wanted to keep
slavery alive, whereas the North wanted to abolish it. The Battle of Gettysburg was fought during the
Civil war and was entitled to be one of the biggest and bloodiest battles fought. Although the battle

Why Are Carbohydrates Important In Living Organisms
Patrick Audish
16 October 2017
Moris
Biology P: 5
Extra Credit The nucleic acid is needed in the body to keep our dna. Nucleic acid is a macromolecule
that stores and communicate genetic energy. There are six major nucleotides and it is made of carbon
nitrate, oxygen, phosphorus, and hydrogen. In living organisms there are two types of nucleic acids
called deoxyribonucleic acid and ribonucleic acid. DNA and RNA in the nucleic acids bonds into the
phosphate of another nucleotide. ATP stores energy in a storehouse and it could only be used by cells
in a variety of reactions. ATP releases energy when the second and the third phosphate group is
broken. Triphosphate is a nucleotide with three phosphate group. Nucleotides are smaller repeating
subunits made of nucleic acids. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Carbohydrates are composed of hydrogen, carbon, and oxygen. A formula often used is (CH2O)Ï€.
Carbohydrates is important because it has a big role of providing energy for organisms. Disaccharide
is when two monosaccharides are joined together and monosaccharides can also be linked to form a
larger one. Disaccharide is the same as glucose as they are both sugar. Longer carbohydrates are called
polysaccharide. When your body needs energy during physical activities or between meals glycogen is
broken down into glucose. Carbohydrates is used for both living organisms and plants. For living
organisms it provides energy but for plants it is called cellulose and that provides structural support in
the cell walls. The cellulose is made up of glucose chained and linked together. Chitin is the hard outer

Dual Diagnosis Paper
Creating a plan and executing each step of the plan might sound simple to do, but for many
individuals, many of them must have the next step of maintenance just in case they deviate from the
plan (Miller Rollnick, 2002). Maintenance is the next step in change in which the individual must
either maintain their steps in change or relapse and change their ways (Miller Rollnick, 2002). This
step is also the last step and the longest step for individuals in which finishing this step might take up
to months or even years to accomplish (Miller Rollnick, 2002). Also in this step the individuals might
relapse and go back to their previous ways in which at that time the clients would want to know why
they relapsed or ways to prevent it (Miller ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dual diagnosis will almost consist of three prevalent characteristics such as substance abuse, several
metal illnesses and proper treatment (Drake, 2007). In addition, dual diagnosis also allows clients and
doctors to discover further new knowledge specifically of dual diagnosis such as the most exposed to
different individuals who are dual diagnosed the better treatment the doctor can provide (Werner
Stawski, 2012). Furthermore the more knowledgeable the doctors are at treating individuals whom are
dual diagnosed the better they are to provide their clients with the eight to nine stages (depending on
the individual) of change (Miller Rollnick, 2002). However, with all of this new knowledge, there are
issues that pertain to dual diagnosis, which is that having a typecast on the individuals will cause the
doctor to provide worse treatment as if they didn t have an opinion of those clients (Werner, 2012). In
addition, there must be work done on treating children who are dual diagnosed since many doctors
don t even know that children can be dual diagnosed and treated just like adults (Jamie Knowlton,
2007). Therefore, in the spectrum of dual diagnosis, there are endless amount of information to help us
to become more knowledgeable but it is not until we are attaining firsthand experience that we can
fully be able to help in dual

The Role Of The Kuraka During The Spanish Conquest
The Role of The Kuraka During The Spanish Conquest
During the Spanish conquest of the Incan Empire the role of the Kuraka was crucial in gaining control
over the Andean society. The role of the Kuraka could be thought of as provincial nobility [1] whose
main job was to control the labor and tribute made and delivered from the natives to the state. In order
to do this job the Kurakas had to maintain respect from the natives while maintaining good relations
with the colonial state. This could be difficult considering that too much affiliation with the state could
lead to a loss of status to the natives, and a loss of respect from the natives would make one useless to
the state. The Indian who broke entirely with his own culture ... Show more content on

Because they did not understand the infrastructure the Spaniards could not gain access or control over
the Indian society with their own hierarchy or authority. It was made clear that in order to run this
society the Spanish rulers had to gain control over the means of production. This is why they
incorporated the traditional Andean Hierarchy, The Kurakas, into their model of government.[5]
In the late 1500 s Francisco Toledo, Spanish Viceroy of Peru, implemented many reforms centralizing
the colonial government. He implemented regulations that grouped the natives into small settlements
or villages, much like those seen in Europe, with grid like streets, a central plaza that faced the church,
and a jail, etc. The Indians resisted these villages and many even fled. In the face of Indian resistance
the Spanish authorities planned on using the Kurakas traditional power over the labor and goods of the
Indigenous people to benefit the state by gaining control over these societies and using these goods
and services of the natives as forms of payment to the state.
Discrimination and the exploitation of Indians continued to grow throughout the 16th century and
brought about difficulties for members of the Indian elite. The Kurakas were slowly losing respect
from the natives by trying to fulfill their requirements to the state. Laws and ordinances were put in
place to try and stop the exploitation of the Indians. Such laws

Giving Our Felons A Chance
Giving Our Felons a Chance What if you couldn t find somewhere to live? This is an actual issue that
many Americans face every day. Not because of the lack of money, but because of their criminal
records felons to be specific. Having a criminal record, now in days is not hard, you can be felon for
something small or for something big. However, once a felon you are out of luck with finding a place
to live on your own. I think it is the smallest and most irrelevant things that our government take into
notice. The government will never see and think like a person who grew up in poverty. If you have a
criminal record and can t find a place to live to better yourself what the next step? It can only go south
from here. No one should struggle to find a place to live and call home. I believe that there are felons
out there who will never better themselves nor would they care to. These felons don t care for a place
to live or a place to call home. However, there are many people who end up with a criminal record for
a very small incident, maybe an incident that was not their fault. There are many felons who can post
bail and maybe do one day in jail. If you can post bail in one day I m sure your crime was not life
threatening. Therefore, why can t this felon find a place to live? The reason is because any apartment
complex you apply for will do a background check and will deny you. They don t care if you are
doing better or if you re a changed person they will throw you out just as

Rfid ( Radio Frequency Identification )
INTRODUCTION
RFID (radio frequency identification) is a technology that was originally developed for use in
transponders in aircrafts during the Second World War. RFID is an information and sensor technology
that can be attached or inserted into objects to collect data through reader devices and tags. It uses
wireless radio waves to transmit and uses devices such as RFID readers, RFID tags, and middleware.
The RFID system consists of three components
1. The transponder, which is a small electronic data carrying tag that is attached to the product to be
identified.
2. A reader that uses radio frequency signals to communicate with the tag
3. A data processing system that stores information about the tagged products.

RFID IN WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT
In the last decade RFID has gained popularity in the logistics and supply chain management fields.
Many warehouses are taking into consideration the adoption of RFID to reduce the operating cost
against the requirement to build an automatic warehouse and labour intensive manual checking. For
warehousing the parameters include communication range, amount of transmittable data,
communication time and speed of tag communication. The communication range is the distance
within which the reader can transmit or receive data to the tag. Beyond this range the items become
undetectable. The amount of data that is transmitted between the tag and reader affects the
performance in terms of transmission time and accuracy. The communication time also impacts the
performance of the RFID system. There is a choke point which is the fixed reader and the RFID is
constrained to a maximum travel velocity when passing the fixed reader location. When travelling
beyond this speed the accuracy to read is very close to zero. So when greater volume of data is passing

Rhetorical Analysis of Assata Shakur
Assata shakur was a member of the Black Panthers movement and was the most wanted person by the
FBI. She was charged with first degree murder, assault, and battery of a police officer because of her
activism, which brought resentment against her. This compelled her to move to Cuba, where she still
lives today. She s also Tupac Shakur step aunt. In To My People , she expresses her discontent about
the white man s position in society that allows them to manipulate and oppress the black man. She

The Readings For Week One Were Crain
The readings for week one were Crain (2005) chapter one and Hutchison (2015) chapter one. The
Crain (2005) chapter discussed Locke and Rousseau and their contributions to developmental theories.
Locke deviated from the previously held beliefs about children as having innate values and innate
beliefs by theorizing that the environment can influence the their personality and abilities. Locke
believed that instead of treating kids like they have the minds of adults, they actually have minds that
are still in the process of forming and are being constantly influenced by external forces (Crain, 2005,
p. 7 8). Rousseau proposed stages of development ranging from infancy to adolescence in which
children view and experience things as inherently different from adults (Crain, 2005, p. 15 17).
Rousseau also believed that children progressed according to an innate and natural course that could
not be forced or altered through social conditioning (Crain, 2005, p. 20). Chapter one of Hutchison
(2015) discusses the way in which the individuals life can be understood through the unfolding of
events and life experiences over time. This is called the Life Course Perspective (Hutchison, 2015, p.
7) Those who subscribe to this perspective and apply it to their practice and theories integrate several
concepts such as cohorts (the group that an individual belongs to according to the time and place in
which they were born), transitions (the changes that occur in an individuals life),

Neighborly Relations Has Decline In The United States...
According to the Chicago Tribune, Neighborly relations have declined in the U.S. since the 1950s.
Some 28 percent of us know none of our neighbors names, particularly pervasive among younger and
lower income people, (Mildenstein). Why is it that our society has become less neighborly? In our
society today, people are caught up in themselves and do not like to connect personally or physically
with their neighbors. Because of this, they do not take the time out of their day to meet or socialize
with their neighbors. Since the 1950s, our societies values and morals have changed dramatically. We
now have the whole world at our fingertips, and feel like we do not need the physical presence of
people in our lives. Consequently, good neighbors have become extremely hard to come by. However,
when ones neighbor is cordial, cooperative, and gracious, ones everyday life can become a bit easier.

This is an easy way to show ones neighbor that they care. In addition, it shows how they want to get to

The Jedi Path
The personal and communal nature of spirituality is nowhere so clear as it is with the Jedi Community.
I assert that the promotion of the Jedi Path (as an authentic spiritual orientation) is best maintained by
the Perennial Philosophy. In the performance of ritual at the Temple such as birthdays, invocations,
tokens of offering, etc., etc. are all designed to promote a higher spirituality, authentic in form and
grounded in science/philosophy. In addition, I explore how (daily) rituals at (both at the Temple and at

observation of such an ethical framework, served as the basis for moral purification and the basis and
rationale an individual s (Jedi) training as well as for the general placement of the (Jedi Path)

beneficial to society as a whole, providing foundation of the Jedi Path. In short, the communal and

Moliere s Tartuffe By William Moliere
The Enlightenment ushered in the idea that reason should be exercised in thinking instead of passion.
Moliere s Tartuffe was written to challenge the dominant political and religious views of its time. The
Catholic church viewed Moliere s Tartuffe as a threat to their faith and banned the play from being
performed in public. Moliere became one of the great Enlightenment thinkers because of his
willingness to speak out against the large corrupt institutions that many people did not have the
courage to question.
Marcel Gutwirth states, Who is Tartuffe? Who is the wretch come barefoot into the home of a man of
some wealth and note who, in the teeth of almost universal detestation, establishes a grip upon that
household so tenacious that the intervention of the sovereign is needed to shake him loose and send
him packing? The play, as had been remarked, refuses to make up its mind. The rubicund glutton of
the second act or the sinister jail bird of the fifth, the religious hypocrite or the professional confidence
man, the professed nobleman the provinces or the penniless impostor make for a range that takes in
some mutually exclusive possibilities. Two things stand out: he does lay claim to a very special
relation to heaven; and, though far less overtly, sex exercises an equally strong claim on his person. A
third fact, which we shall take up first, is his successful occupation of that well nigh impregnable
fastness, the interior of an affluent French household the

Essay about COL Prescott’s Command in the Battle of...
The award winning novel by Stephen Ambrose, Band of Brothers: Easy Company, 506th Regiment,

mission command in the form of 1st Lieutenant Richard Winters and his role in the Brecourt Manor

outnumbered the unit by four times as much. Facing overwhelming odds with just 16 paratroopers

objective while minimizing casualties to just three Soldiers lost. Looking back further into the

COL Prescott s understanding of operational variables (PMESII PT) and mission variables (METT

COL Prescott demonstrates his grasp of these variables by determining the British forces strength, the
morale condition of his own men and the effective location from which his orders say defend. The
6000 British soldiers training and equipment outstrip the colonists in every aspect. To deny the British
from seizing Dorchester Heights, COL Prescott s understanding of the current situation gave way to
his effective planning that was effective in his visualization of the defense mission. COL Prescott s
tactical mind shows that the British would overwhelm the colonists through sheer force alone. The
novel Patriot Battles: How the War of Independence was Fought (Stephenson, page 211) describes the
end state that COL Prescott works to achieve was to hold off the British forces through a stealthy
defense fortification of Breed s Hill, rather than Bunker Hill. The decision for going against higher

Plattsburgh Motor Service (PMS) s dual problem of stagnant sales and declining profits are normal

Socrates Defense Essay
The accusers, Meletos, Anytos, and Lycon, are all young and trying to make a name for themselves.
They begin by telling everyone not to be deceived and to take caution because Socrates is a clever
speaker . According to Socrates, the difference between him and his accusers is that he speaks the
truth. He is on trial for two items, which include, corrupting the youth and impiety. Socrates tells
everyone that he has no experience with the court and he will speak the way he is used to by being
honest and direct. Socrates explains that his behavior is from the oracle of Apollo at Delphi.
The oracle was asked if anyone was wiser than Socrates was. The answer was no, there was no man

The other possibility is that he does not corrupt them at all. Third, in frustration, Meletos accuses
Socrates of being nonbeliever, at the same time he claims Socrates teaches new gods. Thus, Meletos
contradicts himself. Socrates argues that fear of death is foolish, because it is not known if death is a
good or an evil, thus there is no reason to fear death. Socrates claims that his mission is in service to
God.
Socrates does not throw himself on the mercy of the court. Many would bring in their children to win
pity. However, he does mention that he has three young children and he tells the jury about their
responsibility to ignore the appeals to pity and judge the truth. Despite Socrates speech, the jury finds
him guilty as charged. Meletos proposes death as punishment. Instead, Socrates proposes retirement in
a home for benefactors of the state. He examines possible penalties: death, imprisonment, a fine, or
exile. The jury sentences him to death. Socrates remarks that his internal, guiding voice, which at
times would warn him to refrain from certain actions, had not once interrupted his actions in his
defense. If Socrates finds that they believe themselves to be wiser than they really are, he points out
their mistake, thus educates them and himself.

Dramatic Elements In Aunt Raini
In this theatrical production Aunt Raini, directed by the playwright Tom Smith and produced by
Pacific Lutheran University, has successfully perform theatrical elements within different perspective
of the performance, while the performance has connected and integrated the content based from the
script stories. For instance, from a stage production perspective, the constructing style of the scenes,
walls, flats or hand props and the accurate placement of stage properties on stage has specified the
background story setting while different style of composing, designing and painting of the scenery
represent the amount of efforts and works that whole crew had put in during the process of theater
production.
The story of the theatrical performance Aunt Raini was inspired by Leni Riefenstahl, a world
renowned filmmaker who creates the documentary Triumph of the Will of the Reich Party Congress
1934 in Nuremberg. Sadly, most of Riefenstahl s works after this documentary are reference as pieces
of propaganda for the Nazi Party, which led to her to be misunderstood and isolated within the art and
film communities throughout her lifetime. In this performance, Leni Riefenstahl, also reference as the
protagonist character of Aunt Raini , has come to New York City to visit her grandniece Katherine. On
the other hand, Katherine, known as The Great Revealer for her ability to find the best up and coming
artists on the Time magazine, is a successful art gallery owner. Meanwhile, One of

Amelia Earhart Speech
Have you ever been daring enough to think outside the box or do something out of the ordinary?
Maybe you have, or maybe you ve been too scared to do it. Someone who wasn t afraid was Amelia
Earhart. She did something no one else had done or attempted to do before. Amelia Earhart, daring
and outgoing from the start of her life, achieved many things, which is why she should be remembered
because, indeed, flying is what ended her life.
Amelia Earhart was born on July 24, 1898, in Atchison, Kansas. Around 1907, her whole family
moved to Des Moines, Iowa. Amelia was a full out tomboy during her whole childhood. She once slid
a sled off a barn roof, calling it a roller coaster. She also played all the sports that, normally, only boys
played like football and basketball. During the summer of 1907, Amelia s dad, Edwin, took her and
her sister, Muriel, to the Des Moines State Fair. Edwin was really attracted to the model airplane at the
fair. On the other hand, Muriel and Amelia, surprisingly, were unamused. They just thought the plane
was boring. (Lardner, 205 207).
In 1917, Amelia and her mother took a trip to Toronto, Canada, even though, there was a war
happening. Amelia saw wounded soldiers on her left and right. She knew she had to help in some way.
So, she stayed in Toronto and became a nurse s aid. This began her path down the medical and nursing
road. After the war, Amelia started premedical nursing school in New York. (Lardner, 207).
Amelia s love for planes started to

Summary Of Animalistic Desire By D. H. Lawrence
D.H Lawrence s ideas of love and interpersonal attraction are nothing if not polarizing. His distillation
of love to an animalistic desire can be seen as either the height or death of romanticism. One may
argue that such uncontrollable hormonal puppeteering undermines the human element of restraint or a
more noble idea of love as unique companionship. In a sense, Lawrence challenges the notion of
separation between and the beasts; he suggests the protestant fueled traditions of courtship are not a
sign of human elevation, but a convolution of instinct that is as primal as the lust of thirst. However,
Lawrence may also represent the life of romanticism, shaping such animal drive into the current of a
more galvanistic construct of romance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Early conflict, before grandiose confrontations of love, is found when Dr. Fergusson considers the
contradictions he feels for the town he works and lives in. Walking through the dreary countryside he
muses:
It wore him out, but at the same time he had a craving for it. It was a stimulant to him to be in the
homes of the working people, moving as it were through the innermost body of their life. His nerves
were excited and gratified. He could come so near, into the very lives of the rough, inarticulate,
powerfully emotional men and women. He grumbled, he said he hated the hellish hole. But as a matter
of fact it excited him, the contact with the rough, strongly feeling people was a stimulant applied
direct to his nerves. (237)
His love hate relationship stems from two conflicting inner personalities. The first Fergusson is a man
of medicine, sophisticated and reasonable. He is repulsed by downtrodden town, seeing it as the
antithesis of all that his education represents. The second man is a reaction to the discipline and
restraint required to create the first emotional, craving excitement, and attracted to the simplicity and
assertiveness of uneducated people. The conflicts between the doctor s opposing sides are soon
mirrored in his blooming, although sudden, romance. Initially, the logical side of Dr. Fergusson views
Mabel as simply his friend s sister, willing to strike up polite conversation, yet hesitant at her
dangerous eyes that always

AGRARIAN CRISIS OF MUGHAL EMPIRE by IRFAN HABIB: Various explanations are put

But there was an element of contra ion between the interests of the imperial administration and the
individual jagirdar. A jagirdar, whose assignment was liable to be transferred any moment and who
never held the same jagir for more than 3 or 4 years at the most, could have no interest in following a
far sighted policy of agricultural development. His personal interests would sanction any act of
oppression that conferred an immediate benefit upon him, even if it ruined the peasantry and so
destroyed the revenue paying capacity of that area for long time. Owing to the constant and
unpredictable transfers of jagirs, Bhimsen tells us late in Aurangzeb s reign, the agents of the jagirdars
had given up the practice of helping the peasantry or making firm arrangements. Moreover, the amils
of the jagirdars were not sure of their own tenures of employment and so, proceeding tyrannically ,
were unrelenting in the collection of revenue. When the jagirdar, instead of appointing his agents to
collect the revenue, farmed out the jagir, the evil was worse still. The land was being laid waste, says
Sadiq khan, writing of Shahjahan s reign, through bribery and revenue farming, as a result of which
the peasantry was being robbed and plundered. These statements show that in 17th century the belief
had become deep rooted that the system of jagir transfers led inexorably to a reckless exploitation of
the peasantry. It was a result which the imperial

As Christians we are trying to re invent our beliefs, faith and righteous living to fit in the modern
world. We are trying to move with the tide, follow trends and changes. We are incorporating what is in
the world into Christianity. Christians are trying to hold on to what God expects us to do and living
righteously but it is getting harder as the world is changing.

There has also been a decline in spiritual enrichment in churches to its followers which has allowed
new religions and new age innovations to come up. Christians convert to these religions trying to look
for spiritual enrichment and fulfillment. Christian knowledge is being challenged with scientific and
worldly knowledge. There is no longer the idea of one truth, one correct body of knowledge, (Bruce,

they forget that faith believes in the unseen.

The Pros And Cons Of Tariffs
United States of America, being one of the largest economies for importing steel, is imposing taxes of
around 256% on china. It is found out that china has been accused of dumping and therefore it is
selling its steel at a lower price. US is imposing taxes at other countries too, such as India, south
Korea and Italy. The domestic producers, are suffering because the imports have been rising, as stated
in the article Imports of all steel products through October rose 3.9 percent in 2015 , and the quantity
demanded of the domestic goods are reducing as the price levels are not matching, and hence the
tariffs are imposed.
Tariff is a form of trade protectionism, which is applied when there is free trade between the countries,
and the domestic consumption of good produced by the domestic producer is less. Hence, Tariff
basically is a tax levied on imported goods. The US govt is imposing tariffs on china and few other
customers in order to protect the domestic economy.

about the matrix and the truth about everything he looses everything he loved about his old life. I do
not think I could live in a place without any of my family or friends, even if it is all just a fantasy. I
mean when you think about it if you really know the truth about the world/life, what can you do about

Instructional Design Models Are Not Just Boxes And Arrows
In my opinion Instructional design models are not just boxes and arrows, they have practical value in
real life instructional design projects and to clarify that, I will first of all define what is instructional
design, define instructional analysis, define instructional design models, discuss component of models
and finally using one of the most widely known and used instructional design model to create a
practical real life instructional design project with topic titled ENGLISH LANGUAGE SENTENCES
AND PHRASES. Instructional design is defined as a system using learning theory that creates
specifications for the development and implementation of learning experiences, materials, and
environments (Whitmyer, 1999). According to Dick and Carey, An instructional analysis is a set of
procedures that, when applied to an instructional goal, results in the identification of the relevant steps
for performing a goal and the subordinate skills required for a student to achieve the goal Thus, the
instructional analysis breaks the skills described in your goal statement down into smaller steps, and
then identifies any other relevant skills that might be necessary. The instructional analysis is
developed from your goal statement, which highlights the importance of making sure your goal

I Am Madame X By Gioia Diliberto
I Am Madame X by Gioia Diliberto a novel of historical fiction, based loosely on the life of Virginie
Amelie Avegno Gautreau, otherwise known as Madame X, the infamous society matron and subject of
Sargent s sexually charged 1884 Parisian Salon entry. In the novel Virginie and Pierre s marriage is a
portrayal of what love is not. There are cases of infidelity, which seems common in most marriages.
What seems like love is only mere infatuation. People in this society focus more on beauty and how
being with that person will make their reputation better, more so than the act of falling in love. The
role of marriage throughout the novel is used to empower as well as sexualize women, which says a
lot about their society. Written as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After she found out Aurelie was a Negro, Mama became obsessed with the color of my skin, as if
Aurelie s hidden blackness had been contagious and I might have caught a touch of it. Whenever she
saw me, she stared at me with furrowed brow and complained that I was losing my bloom. To protect
me from the sun, she gave me a parasol to carry when I went out with her, and a straw hat to wear in
the convent garden. Still, she worried. Her relationship with her mother is said to affect her
relationship with men. page 15 Her only trustworthy relative is her Aunt Julie, who refuses to marry
and becomes a professional artist; Virginie s narcissistic mother used her daughter to get into the top
echelons of society. Virginie Avegno became one of Paris s conspicuous beauties, as she was a pale
skinned brunette with fine, cameo like features and an hourglass figure. She attracted much admiration
due to her elegance and style. She also attracted much amorous attention that she did not discourage,
and her extramarital affairs were so well known that they became the subject of tabloid scandal sheets
and gossip handbills. One of her lovers was a Dr. Pozzi, whose portrait had been painted by the young
aspiring portraitist John Singer Sargent, a former pupil of French master Carolus

Essay On Street Maintenance
The City s Street Repair, Rehabilitation and Maintenance programs are complex in nature as the
treatments vary depending on pavement condition index and pavement type. Funding is derived from

Prior to fog seal applications, Street Maintenance crews perform minor maintenance and crack sealing
to the street to be sealed by contractors. Work under this program is prioritized from a list of streets
that have been resurfaced within the last three (3) years based upon age, traffic loading, bus/snow
route, and location near schools or other institutions. Micro Surfacing Program. The Micro Surfacing
Program is another approach to maintenance that provides greater flexibility in addressing pavement
defects on streets which conventional overlays would not be cost effective for. Micro surfacing
involves applying a polymer modified asphalt and aggregate mixture that is designed to protect the
pavement and provide a skid resistant wearing surface. This method is beneficial on pavements which
require work due to surface imperfections without causing excessive buildup of additional material on
the pavement cross section. Prior to micro surfacing, Street Maintenance crews perform minor
maintenance and crack sealing to the street before micro surfacing is performed by contractors. Work

The Importance Of Antidepressants
This is an accurate representation of medication for depression. It does not make you want to live, it
does not fix your thinking, it just makes you functional. It allows you to do things you wouldn t
usually be able to, and maybe after a while you will be able to function on your own. I am a strong
believer in the idea that you should avoid taking unecessary medication. Lots of people I know have
said that me saying that is hypocritical because I take antidepressants, but I disagree. While it is not
completely necessary for me to take antidepressants to overcome my depression and anxiety, they
make a big impact on my life. Antidepressants have allowed me to be a functional human being and
because of this, I have been able to redevelop daily

How Does Kromer Influence In Demian
The Foundation Of Childhood Life can be described as a skyscraper. When childhood morality builds
a strong foundation, one can reach great heights. However, when built with a weak, unstable
foundation, life s obstacles undermine the building, causing it to crumble to the ground. In the novel,
Demian, Hermann Hesse pursues the idea of how external influence from Emil Sinclair s peers, during
his childhood lead to his heretic belief in Abraxas. Through encounters with Kromer and Demian,
Sinclair s ethical spectrum shifts to the darker side of life, which he never confronts before, due to his
parents upbringing. Sinclair s abusive relationship with Kromer catalyzes his metamorphosis from
virtuous to villainous. Weak and vulnerable, he let[s] the devil take the hindmost (16). The devil
represents Kromer, tempting Sinclair to follow him on the Highway to Hell. Although Sinclair s ethics
contradict committing sinful actions, such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike Kromer, Demian influences Sinclair s beliefs with logic, and embodies a mentor and
companion. His words appeal to Sinclair, and comfort him during his troubling childhood. Demian
extricate[s] Sinclair from the labyrinth , that Kromer constructs (36). Sinclair sees Demian as a
guardian angel, and trusts his perspective and viewpoint. As his name reflects from the ancient Greek
language, Demian tames Sinclair, molding him into an identical clay copy of himself. He saves
Sinclair from his oppressor, only to introduce his own influence. Like Kromer, he too though
differently... was a tempter 37). Demian tempts Sinclair down the Highway of Hell, but pretends they
are climbing the Stairway To Heaven. Demian does not explicitly manipulate Sinclair, but deceives
him, and is Satan disguised as a savior. His deception influences Sinclair s behavior and thoughts as a
child, luring him away from the realm of light and purity he was raised

Lindbergh Baby Case Study
The Lindbergh Baby Case is a case about a famous aviator, Charles Lindbergh Sr., whose baby
Charles Lindbergh Jr, was kidnapped from his home in New Jersey on March 1, 1932 between 8:00pm
11:30pm. Eventually two and a half years later the guilty party was found. However, in order for the
family to find out what happened to their innocent child they had to use the help of the New Jersey
police department, the FBI, and the New York City police department. Once the individual was
captured it was up to the court systems and corrections to ensure that the guilty party was charged
appropriately. Without the help of the criminal justice system the Lindbergh Family would not have
seen justice for their baby.
The first component of the criminal justice system the police, received news of Baby Lindbergh s
kidnapping at 11:30pm on March 1, 1932. Per Schmalleger (2015) the job of police officers is to
investigate crimes, gather evidence, apprehend offenders, and ensure community safety. When the
police received a call at 11:30pm notifying them of the Lindbergh baby being kidnapped, they went to
the Lindbergh s mansion and started an investigation. They questioned everyone in the home and
found evidence of a ransom note asking for $50,000, marks on a window from a ladder that was used
to enter the home, and a chisel gouge that was used to pry open the shutter. They learned that the baby
was pulled from his blanket by his head and they found a clump of yellow soil clay on a suitcase
