Agape Water Solutions The Water Deionization Process

Introduction Agape Water Solutions is an environmentally conscious water treatment company in Harleysville, Pennsylvania. Dedicated to customer care and safe and efficient practices, Agape Water Solutions provides a number of services, including deionization. Deionized (DI) water is water that has removed ions normally present such as sodium, calcium, and copper. Deionization water purification can be done by using ion exchange or membrane technologies, or a combination of both. Water may be deionized for a variety of reasons. In chemistry, the ions present in untreated water can interfere with experiments in which water is required.

Water Deionization For example, if an experiment is carried out to determine what compounds are in a certain soil sample, using water that possesses ions picked up in different soil will alter test results. The same is true for pharmaceutical research and clinical laboratories. In manufacturing facilities, deionized water is often used to avoid the buildup of salt that can occur on machinery when untreated water is used for the cooling or lubrication of equipment. Deionized water is not generally recommended for drinking, because the salts and minerals are removed in the deionization process.
