Parental Involvement and Early Childhood Skills Development

Overview Findings Statement of the Problem Paradigm Recommendations Background 01 02 03 04 05 Conclusion 06

01 Background Parental involvement in early childhood education is widely recognized as a critical factor influencing children's academic and developmental outcomes. Despite its importance, many rural communities, such as Simbalan in Buenavista, face challenges in fostering effective parental engagement due to various socio-economic and educational barriers. This study aims to bridge this gap by analyzing the levels of parental involvement in kindergarten education and its impact on children's skill development.

01 Background Utilizing a self-made questionnaire, validated by the EPS Kindergarten of Agusan del Norte Division and tested for reliability, this research seeks to provide a comprehensive understanding of parental participation in home and school settings. By employing a 95% confidence level and a 5% margin of error, the study ensures accurate and reliable data collection from the selected rural schools.

01 Background The findings of this research will offer valuable insights into the significant relationships between parental involvement and the development of cognitive, social-emotional, and motor skills in young children. Additionally, the study will propose targeted recommendations and develop an advocacy program to enhance parental engagement, ultimately contributing to the holistic development and educational success of kindergarten learners in rural areas. This research not only aims to highlight the current state of parental involvement but also to inspire actionable strategies that can be implemented by parents, educators, and policymakers to foster a supportive and enriching learning environment for young children.

Statement of the Problem 01 What is the level of skills development of kindergarten learners? Conclusion 05 The study revealed a significant relationship between the level of parental involvement in early childhood education and the skill development of kindergarten learners. Parental engagement, both at home and in school settings, was found to positively influence children's cognitive, social-emotional, and motor skills. The data underscores the critical role that active parental participation plays in fostering a supportive environment conducive to early childhood development. 01 02 Through the use of a validated and reliable self-made questionnaire, the research highlighted varying levels of parental involvement in the rural barangay of Simbalan, Buenavista. The findings indicate that increased parental involvement correlates with higher developmental outcomes in children. This relationship emphasizes the need for targeted interventions to promote and facilitate greater parental engagement in early education, particularly in rural communities.

Conclusion 05 The study's advocacy program, based on its findings, aims to enhance parental involvement in early childhood education by providing practical recommendations and support mechanisms for parents, teachers, school administrators, and policymakers. The research demonstrated that when parents are actively involved in their children's education, it leads to significant improvements in academic and developmental milestones, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts to strengthen family-school partnerships. 03

Recommendations 06 For Parents: Parents are encouraged to actively engage in their children's early education by participating in school activities, assisting with homework, and fostering a supportive home learning environment. Regular communication with teachers and involvement in school events can significantly enhance children's developmental outcomes. For Teachers: Teachers should strive to create welcoming and inclusive environments that encourage parental involvement. Regular updates on children's progress, hosting parent-teacher meetings, and providing resources for at-home learning can help bridge the gap between school and home.

Recommendations 06 For School Administrators: School administrators should implement programs and policies that facilitate and promote parental engagement. This includes organizing workshops for parents, creating flexible opportunities for parental involvement, and fostering strong communication channels between school and home. For Policymakers: Policymakers should develop and support initiatives that promote parental involvement in early childhood education. Providing funding for parental engagement programs, mandating family involvement policies in schools, and ensuring access to resources for parents can help improve educational outcomes.

Recommendations 06 For Educational Researchers: Further research is recommended to explore effective strategies for increasing parental involvement, especially in rural and underserved areas. Studies should also investigate the long-term impacts of parental engagement on children's academic and developmental progress, providing a basis for evidence-based policies and practices.
