Your case study should not be just a punch of UX
methodologies and deliverables, It should tell a story.
First include the problem ( the beginning of the story )
then the process of the solution, talk to the recruiters
briefly in short sentences why you did that, what made
you choose this specific methodologie, And finally the
conclusion which is your findings, what have you
learned and what would you have done differently etc..

Designers who don't have a real work to show could
work on a hypothetical systems ( fake app/website )
or revamp a current ones. What matters is that you
are trying to apply and present what you have been
learning.

UX portfolio is not all about visuals and pretty pixels,
recruiters want to see what is behind this beautiful final
product so be aware of online portfolio platforms like
“Dribbble shots” as it's not showing how you work and
think.

Add real photos to your case studies. It has a great
impact because it lets the recruiters visualise the
process and live the moment with you while reading
your portfolio ( ex: photo of your messy sketching,
photo of you conducting an interview, photo of you
with your team brainstorming on a white board etc.. )

Testing is often overlooked by designers when presenting
their work especially if it’s a fake product, so make sure
you test your final product. It could be just a gorilla testing
that’s fine but illustrate your findings and what should be
iterate. It's a great way to learn from each product.
