TYPES STORAGE PARENCHYMA THESE ARE ENLARGED PARENCHYMATOUS CELLS TO STORE NUTRIENTS AND WATER. AERENCHYMA IT IS PRESENT IN AQUATIC PLANTS AND PROVIDE BOUYANCY TO THEM. CHLORENCHYMA IT IS PARENCHYMATOUS CELLS THAT CONTAIN CHLOROPLAST AND HELPS IN THE PROCESS OF PHOTOSYNTHESIS.
FUNCTIONS STORAGE OF RESERVE FOOD MATERIAL LIKE STARCH , FATS , PROTEINS etc. THEY ALSO STORE WASTE PRODUCTS LIKE TANNIN, GUM, RESINS etc. PROVIDE RIGIDITY TO PLANT BODY. CHLORENCHYMA HELPS IN PHOTOSYNTHESIS. PROVIDE MECHANICAL STRENGTH.

CHRACTERISTICS IT IS LIVING TISSUE. THE CELLS ARE THIN WALLED BUT POSSESS THICKENINGS OF CELLULOSE AND PECTIN SUBSTANCES AT CORNERS. THE CELLS ARE COMPACTLY ARRANGED AND INTERCELLULAR SPACES ARE ABSENT. IN TRANSVERSE SECTION THEY APPEAR CIRCULAR , OVAL OR POLYGONAL.
FUNCTIONS IT PROVIDE MECHANICAL SUPPORT , ELASTICITY AND TENSILE STRENGTH TO THE PLANT BODY. COLLENCHYMATOUS CELLS MANUFACTURE SUGARS AND MAY STORE IT AS A STARCH. THE COLLENCHYMA PRESENT AT THE MARGINS OF LEAVES AND RESIST THE TEARING EFFECT OF THE WIND.
SCLERENCHYMA
CHRACTERISTICS IT IS DEAD TISSUE . THE WALLS ARE THICK DUE TO DEPOSITION OF LIGNIN. CELLS ARE CLOSELY PACKED WITHOUT INTERCELLULAR SPACES. THE CELLS ARE CEMENTED WITH THE HELP OFTHE MIDDLE LAMELLA. IT IS MADE UP OF PECTIN , LIGNIN AND PROTEIN.
