Final Years During the last 26 years of life, Titian worked mainly for Philip II as an portrait painter. He finished many copies that his pupils made of his earlier works. For Philip II , he painted a series of mythological paintings (also known as “poesies”) , mostly from Ovid. The “poesies” series contained the following work: Venus and Adonis Dana ë , both sent to Philip in 1553.
