LOCATION Cumilla District is located in southeast Bangladesh. It is around 100 kilometers southeast of Dhaka. Cumilla is surrounded by Brahmanbaria and Narayanganj districts to the north, Noakhali and Feni districts to the south, Tripura state of India to the east, and Munshiganj and Chandpur districts to the west. 3

Shalban Bihar Located in Mainamati,is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Cumilla. It is an archeological site that contains the ruins of and old Buddhist Bihar, including about a hundred monastic cells. These ruins are situated in the center of the Lalmai Hills. Mainamati War Cemetery The Mainamati War Cemetery, often known as Cumilla War Cemetery, is another prominent Cumilla tourist attraction. There are two World War II cemeteries in Bangladesh, one of which is located near Cumilla. 5

Dharmasagar Dharmasagar is man-made pond in Cumilla that was established to provide inhabitants with a source of water. It was excavated during the reign of Tripura’s ruler Dharma Manikya in 1458. It is also regarded as one of the first pieces of evidence of urban water heritage in Bangladesh. Gomti River Every river in Bangladesh has its own beauty and characteristics, and the Gomti River in Cumilla is what makes the area so beautiful. Cumilla, Mainamati and Daudkandi are some of the prominent places along the banks of the Gomti River. 6

Chandi Mura Temple Chandi Mura Temple, also known as Lalmai Chandi Temple, is an ancient temple perched a top Lalmai Hill in Barura. To get to this Temple, people must climb uphill using stairs. It has a tranquil and peaceful setting, and due to its location on the other side of Cumilla city, it does not draw many tourists. Jagannath Temple Jagannath Temple is one of Cumilla District’s oldest temples. It is located two kilometers south-east of Cumilla Town. The temple’s terracotta brickwork follows the traditional Bengal temple architecture style. 7

Famous Food of Cumilla ( Rasmalai ) Rasmalai has been making its home in Comilla from the beginning. This traditional dessert is very popular and famous in Bangladesh. Though Rasmalai is made in different places across the country but Comilla's Rasmalai has no comparison. The best of them is the rasmalai of Comilla ‘Matri Bhandar’. But there are more than hundred of shops has the same name as Matri Bhandar in Comilla district. 8

Cumilla is famous for “KHADI FABRIC” Clothes made by Comilla Khadi industry are very popular among people of all classes in the country and abroad. Khadi cloth is inextricably linked with the history of Comilla. Starting from the anti British movement, the traditional khadi of Comilla or Khaddar of Comilla gained glory and fame. This fabric is well-known in the country and abroad for its artistic touch and is an internationally recognized geographical indicator. At one time the khadi of Comilla was known as the garment of the struggling people and the poor. That khadi is now meeting the demand of the time in fashion. Buyers are interested in buying this cloth for Eid, Puja or various festivals. 9

CUMILLA FAMOUS PERSONS Nawab Begum Faizunnesa Choudhurani was Zamindar of Homnabad-Pashchimgaon Estate in present-day Comilla District, Bangladesh. She is most famous for her campaign for female education and other social issues.  Dhirendranath Datta was a Bengali lawyer by profession who was also active in the politics of undivided Bengal in pre-partition India, and later in East Pakistan.  10

Abu Hena Mohammad Mustafa Kamal commonly known as Lotus Kamal is a Bangladeshi politician, former cricket official, and businessman. He is a member of the Jatiya Sangsad representing the Comilla-10 constituency and is a former Minister for Planning as well as Minister of Finance. A. K. M. Bahauddin Bahar is a Bangladeshi politician from Awami League and the incumbent Member of Parliament from Comilla-6. Asif Akbar is a Bangladeshi singer. He releases solo, duet, and mixed albums and also songs for Bangladeshi cinema. His latest album, Jaan Re, is available online after he released all of his songs in all methods to prevent piracy . Akhter Hameed Khan was a Pakistani development practitioner and social scientist. He promoted participatory rural development in Pakistan and other developing countries, and widely advocated community participation in development. 11
