HERBAL COSMETICS
explain short notes on herbal cosmetics and explained nail and hair cosmetics are used in herbal plants ingredients. Common herbal ingredients used in skin and hair care products include aloe-vera, turmeric, neem, tulsi, and shikakai. and also advantages and disadvantages are discussed.

3. SKIN TONIC: Refers to a lotion, tonic or wash designed to cleanse the skin and shrink the appearance of pores, usually used on the face. It also moisturizes, protects and refreshes the skin. HAIR TONIC: A liquid or gelatinous substance applied to the hair on one's head to improve its appearance in various ways. TONICS

4. TONICS INGREDIENT: Aloe- vera juice-1ml Honey -1ml Tween 80-1ml Methanol-5ml Herbal extract-2.5ml Distilled water-25ml TONICS

TONICS FORMULATION AND PHYSICAL CHARACTERIZATION C HERBAL FACE GEL TONER Preparation of toner gel: Required quantity of gelling agent was weighed and dispersed in a small quantity of aloe- vera juice to form a homogenous dispersion. Required amount of honey and tween 80 weighed and dispersed in above solution. Required amount of methanol was then added to the above solution. Methyl paraben and propyl paraben were small quantity of water and added to above mixture with continuous stirring. The final weight of gel was adjusted with aloe- vera gel TONICS

7. BLEACHES Skin lightening, or skin bleaching, is a cosmetic procedure that aims to lighten dark areas of skin or achieve a generally paler skin tone. Hair bleaching, is the practice of lightening the hair color mainly for cosmetic purposes using bleaching agents. BLEACHES

12. BLEACHES PREPARATION OF SKIN BLEACHES Stearic acid + Cetyl alchohol + SLS - Heated at 70 degrees (China Dish) Jajoba oil + Olive oil Glycynchiza glabra extract + Solanum tuberosum juice + Water . Preservative + Lemon Juice - Heated to 70 degrees (Beaker ). Water phase into Oil Phase Cool the Cream Store in Closed Container. BLEACHES

13. DENTIFRICES DENTIFRICES : A dentifrice is defined as a powder, paste or other material for cleansing the teeth. Ex: Tooth powder, Toothpaste, Mouthwash, Colgate and etc. Ideal properties: Good abrasive effect. Non irritant and non toxic. Impart no stain in tooth. Keep the mouth fresh and clean. Prolonged effect. Cheap and easily available.

14. DENTIFRICES METHOD OF PREPARATION: Herbal ingredients dried . Grounded using domestic mixer . Passed into sieve . Made into fine powder. Mouthwashes Toothpastes

15. DENTIFRICES MOUTHWASHES: "Mouthwashes are concentrated, clear aqueous solution with a pleasant taste intended to clean and deodorice the mouth or buccal cavity." Types of Mouthwash: 1. Mouthwash containing Anti-bacterial. 2. Mouthwash containing Fluoride. 3. Mouthwash containing Minerals (Astringent).

16. DENTIFRICES TOOTHPASTES A toothpaste or dentifrice is a substance used with a toothbrush for the purpose of cleaning the accessible surfaces of the teeth. Ideal Properties 1. Good Abrasive effect. 2. Non Irritant and nontoxic. 3. Keep mouth Fresh and Clean. 4. Prolong effect. 5. Cheap and easily available.

17. DENTIFRICES PREPARATION OF TOOTHPASTE Dry Gum Method: In this method - abrasive agent, binding agent etc., except the surfactants are mixed together in a dry mixer. The mixer may be an agitation mixer which consists of slow rotating blades. The liquid components such as the humectants and water are gradually added to the dry mix. The mixing process is carried out till a smooth paste is formed. The remaining ingredients like the surfactants and the flavouring agents are added to the homogenous paste under vacuum.

18. DENTIFRICES 2. Wet Gum Method: In this method, all the liquid components are mixed together to form a liquid phase. The binding agent is then mixed with the liquid phase with uniform stirring in order form mucilage. The solid ingredients excluding the surfactants are then gradually added to the mucilage with uniform mixing in an agitation mixer, in order to form a homogenous paste. The remaining ingredients i.e., the surfactants, the flavoring agents, coloring agents are added under vacuum t the homogenous paste

20. COSMETICS FOR NALIS 1. NAIL LACQUER: Definition: "Nail lacquers are viscous preparations intended to decorate nails of fingers and toes". Ideal Characteristics: It should have proper viscosity and flow properties. It should have uniform colour . It should have good gloss and good adhesive properties. It should not produce cracks or become brittle. It should have reasonable drying time (1-2 minutes).

21. COSMETICS FOR NALIS 2 . ENAMEL REMOVER: Definition: Nail removers / nail cleansers are defined as the mixture of solvents containing small amounts of fat intended to remove the nail enamel. Ideal Characteristics: It should not be too volatile to evaporate during application. It should not be non-irritating to surrounding skin. It should not leave the nails fatty or sticky. It should not produce nails become brittle. It should not have unpleasant odour .

NAIL CREAM: Due to excessive removal of fatty substances from nail surface the appearance of the nail becomes dull to overcome this brittleness maintain the health of nail some preparations are used. Emollient cream can be used. 4. NAIL BLEACH: These preparations are used to remove different types of stains and discoloration on the nails.Oxidizing agents normally used are hydrogen peroxide,zinc peroxide.

24. COSMETICS FOR NALIS 5. CUTICLE SOFTENER AND REMOVER: Cuticle softeners: The cuticle is the thin fold of skin that extends over the lunula at the base of the nail. It becomes unpleasant looking due to its irregular growths. Therefore preparations are used to improve its appearence . Cuticles softeners can soften the cuticles along with preventing nail to become brittle.

25. COSMETICS FOR NALIS 6. NAIL CUTICLE REMOVER: Cuticle Removers:- Cuticle Remover are used for a removal of cuticle or by hydrolysis and swelling of the softened cuticles. This is done by using potassium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide. Ingredients: Aqua (water), glycerin, potassium hydroxide, hydroxyethylcellulose , arctostaphylos uva ursi extract, anthemis nobilis (chamomile)flower oil, styrene/ pvp copolymer, tetra sodium EDTA.
