It is known for its stunning natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. We have falls, mountains, wildlife parks, passes, caves and many more. SOME OF LESOTHO TOURISM ATTRACTIONS

MALETSUNYANE FALLS Probably one of the most spectacular natural sites in Lesotho is the imposing Maletsunyane falls, which with a gigantic and unique 200 meter drop, thunderously cascade down from the heights of Thaba Putsoa mountains, near the quaint village of Semonkong which in the local language means ‘place of smoke’, because of the watery and ‘smoky’ dust that is released by the bursting energy of the waterfall, enveloping the atmosphere for hundreds of meters.

MALOTI MOUNTAINS The Maloti Mountains dominate the landscape of Lesotho, offering breathtaking scenery and a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. These rugged mountains provide a stunning backdrop for various activities such as hiking, mountain biking and rock climbing. Visitors can explore the remote valleys, crystal clear rivers and high altitude plateaus that make the Maloti Mountains a must visit destination for nature lovers.

TSEHLANYANE NATIONAL PARK Tsehlanyane National Park is located in the Lesotho Highlands Area, which is adorned with some of the most outstanding natural assets our Kingdom of Lesotho has to offer. These treasures are protected under several statutes including the National Environment Act, No. 10 of 2008, which is based on the principles that every person in Lesotho has a right to a clean and healthy environment and that sustainable development is founded on the sound management of the environment.

SEHLABATHEBE NATIONAL PARK Another must visit wildlife park in Lesotho is Sehlabathebe National Park, a remote and pristine wilderness located in the southern part of the country. This park renowned for its unique alpine flora, which include rare species like the spiral aloe and the Maloti minnow. Sehlabathebe is also a haven for birdwatchers, with over 200 species of birds recorded within its boundaries, its also a home variety of wildlife such as mountain reedbuck, grey rhebuck and the elusive klipsringer. KHALO LA LITHUNYA (A1) (PASS OF GUNS) The pass connects Mokhotlong in the east with the northern villages, as well as the Afriski Resort via the main route –A1. This is an extremely high altitude pass. It’s lowest point is higher than the highest pass in South Africa. Assuming fine weather, the pass should present no problems other than a lack of power in your vehicle due to the oxygen starved air and the very real possibility of experiencing headaches and nose bleeds.

Moteng pass The Moteng pass is a steep tarred pass in the Maluti mountains of Lesotho, reaching a height of 2820 meters. It is one of two passes that links the town of Butha-Buthe with a diamond mining town Mokhotlong, the other pass being Mahlasela pass. Heavy snowfalls frequently closes the pass in winter. The pass is 7.9 km long, with the last stage being extremely dangerous in winter due to frequent patches of ice. Photo and video inserted
