RELIGION Religion has always played a very important role in the lives of I ndian people .Apart from the H indus who form a majority , there are M uslims, C hristians, sikhs and jains . Some of the major temples and important religious centres like P ushkar , Amarnath caves, Vaishno D evi , The world’s greatest S ufi shrines of Khwaja muinuddin chishti in Ajmer etc .

Arts and crafts- The history of India reveals that the kings were patrons of art and craft and they encouraged their craftsmen in activities ranging from wood and marble carvings to weaving pottery, and paintings. Some of the popular crafts are M eenakari jewellary , ivory, lacs and glass, sandalwood and wood,stone , block paintings, found all over Rajasthan Paintings- India’s role in the development of art has been very important. Paintings of hunting scenes, which included innumerable horses, elephants etc dominate in the paintings of M ewar region.

Folk Music and Dance India is rich in Dancing, singing, drama, puppet shows, devotional music, etc. Each region has its own folk entertainment. Some of the better known forms of entertainment are ghoomer dance, fire dance, drum dance etc. Fairs and Festivals Indian people have great love for colour and joyous celebrations. In addition to the festivals celebrated by H indus, Muslims, and others, there are also traditional fairs. Celebrations occur almost round the year and are a splendid opportunity for the visitors to gain an insight into the cultural identity of India .
