Youth is the energetic phase of an individual's life. India holds a significant position in world map in terms of youth population . It has the largest democratic youth dividend in compare with other developing nations. There is a dire need to provide training to youth in the field of agriculture and allied sector. Constructive utilization of their energy for progress and prosperity with discipline and training youth have change the whole nation of our country Introduction 3

Youth 4 Youth people are innovative and creative in problem solving and in finding solutions T hey are the key to helping communities in meeting their subsistence needs, improving the security of the people and even acquiring control over their own lives, they represent challenges as well as opportunities for development. The youth can lead to economic development as well as the social development of their communities and society. The participation of the youth in development has the following advantages: (Youth Participation, 2010). 1. Strengthens the people's abilities to satisfy their own necessities. 2. Prevents and reduces vulnerabilities to economic, social and politically unstable environments. 3. Promotes possession and sustainability of contributions. 4. Assists in entering the target communities and building up trust and social capital.

YOUTH POPULATION IN CONTEXT WITH BIHAR At the  2011 Census Bihar was the  third most populous   state of India   with total population of 104,099,452, nearly 89% of it rural. It was also India's most densely populated state, with 1,106 persons per square kilometre. sex ratio   o f Bihar is 918 females per 1000 males. Almost 58% of Bihar's population was below 25 years age, which is the highest in India. To understand the current scenario of rural youth OBJECTIVE- 1

current scenario of rural youth 13 Unemployment and poverty are the major challenges for rural youth in achieving and maintaining their livelihood. Rural youth have poor access to information, educational and career opportunities, and training facilities. They find it difficult to compete with urban youth in terms of opportunities for jobs and higher education because of tough competition. Even quality of school education is poor because of lack of proper infrastructure and other necessary facilities. They have poor facilities for sports and games too. They feel discriminated and deprived as compared to their urban counterparts and feel removed from the mainstream of growth and development. Poor connectivity of rural communities adds to their woes. They are ill informed about state policies and schemes that could benefit them. Even the state officials are unresponsive and show scant regard to their needs and concerns. They easily fall victim to the red- tapism and run around effortlessly, and even give bribe to officials, to get their legitimate or legal entitlements. The result is that the they can’t get benefits of a number of state-sponsored schemes to improve their economic and physical conditions.

PROBLEM OF YOUTH 16 Rural youth are facing various problems, like E conomically, socially, politically backward, educationally deprived and culturally low and psychologically weak, youth are subject to problems of underage drinking, tobacco use and prey to anti-social elements in the society leading to socio-economic and political problems in the country. The important ones: Illiteracy Poverty Unemployment Inadequate health facilities Child marriage Alcoholism. Lack of self confidence and respect Deterioration of moral values Superstition and old beliefs

Success Stories under Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY) Homemade incubator turned backyard poultry into a profitable venture-Tapas Roy A skill based training program on “Poultry Rearing and Management” was conducted for rural youths by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Karimganj during 12 – 17 February, 2020. The program was organised under the coordination of Directorate of Extension Education, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat . A total of 28 Rural Youths were trained successfully on scientific rearing of poultry and its various management aspects. The training left one of the trainees, Tapash Roy of Brajendranagar village, Karimganj district, Assam, aged 33, motivated and the skills acquired during the training helped him in implementing various aspects of scientific management of poultry rearing in his one acre land . He was rearing the indigenous duck and local chicken with the minimal production. Profit – Before training, he was able to generate an income of not more than Rs. 13,000/- per month. The implementation of various skills acquired during the training helped him generate an income of more than Rs 23,000/- per month from the various activities undertaken utilizing the same resources Source- www.manage.gov.in

Success story of Subhana Hazarika from Assam, who is inspiring other women to take up self-employment activities in agriculture Subhana Hazarika, a housewife, was engaged in selling pickles and homemade sweets on demand basis to support her family in daily expenses. She participated in the skill based training program conducted on “Value Addition of Fruits and Vegetables for Entrepreneurship Development” during 26 – 31 August 2019 under STRY by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sivasagar under the coordination of Directorate of Extension Education, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat. The program helped Subhana acquire technical knowledge and skills required for making better quality pickles, jam & jellies, squash, RTS, dehydrated fruits and vegetables and different candies, their packaging, labelling, getting FSSAI License and a linkage with different line departments Profits – Subhana Hazarika is now able to generate an income of Rs. 13,000 per month Success Stories under Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY). Mixed fruit orchard management Rajendra Yadav , aged 29 years and having 6 acres of land, is maintaining an orchard to sustain his family. However, the production was low due to limited knowledge on modern orchard management techniques. He participated in a skill based training program conducted on ‘Orchard Management and Maintenance’ during January 2021 under STRY by Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Godda under the coordination of State Agriculture Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Jharkhand. The program helped Rajendra revive his orchard and realise higher yield. Profit – Rajendra is able to generate a net income of Rs 2.0 lakhs per year after 12 years. Shalendra , et al. Suggestions 3 main foundation of developments

For connectivity there is need of good infrastructure like road,electricity,hospitality etc Need of agricultural education at primary level Rural youth should be involved in technical expertise in respect of new technology in the field of agriculture So, training is required for rural youth for better development Training should be based on interest area of the particular youth so it can enhance the productivity Involvement of government as well private supporting agencies is more required Monitoring is required for these agency whether it is working or not
