2. Transcript - Definition A transcript is an official copy of the student’s academic record. It records all courses successfully and unsuccessfully completed and all courses that were withdrawn after registration deadline.

3. Synonyms A transcript is sometimes referred to as a  mark sheet ,  mark list  or  report card . In the United States, a transcript is also called  Cumulative Record File  ( CRF ),  permanent record , or simply  record . In the European  ECTS system , transcripts are called  Transcript of Records  ( ToR ).

4. Are transcripts and mark sheets same? Mark sheets are usually available to students after each semester or annual exam at college,   Transcripts are a consolidated documented exam names along with the scores of the student.

5. When and Why a Transcript is required? How to use it? Students need to produce the transcripts while making an application to an abroad university to attend the choice of their course. Students should keep their documents handy as soft copies to upload then and there to complete an application . Some abroad universities require their students to send out hard copies of their transcripts through couriers.

6. An official transcript is prepared and sent by the issuing school usually by the  registrar  with an original signature of a school official on the school letterhead and is sealed by the school. When students change schools, or seek admission to a college or university, the official transcript is usually mailed from school to school. Transcripts usually consist of grades 9-12 when applying to college .
