Carrying and Transporting an Injured Person Transporting an injured person to a safer place requires great care. A first aider must undergo proper training. When doing this, a first aider must consider the following factors:
Weight and height of the victim Status of the victim (conscious or unconscious) Environment (safe, floor is smooth, narrow or wide) Special need considerations (injuries of the victims)
GENERAL PRINCIPLES Reassure the casualty and explain to him what you are planning to do Seek for assistance No more than one leader should be there to guide the team. Do not try to move a seriously injured victim alone when assistance is available.
1 Maintain proper body mechanics while moving the victim. 2 Take immediate action to transport the casualty to the nearest health care agency. 3 Before transporting consider the nature and severity of inj ur y , first aid alrea dy provided, number of assistants available and the distance and route to be covered

Place the casualty in the supine position on a blanket and pull the blanket along the floor. Always pull the casualty head first, with the head and shoulders slightly raised so that the head will not bump against the floor.
