Polarization The phenomena of polarization helps to confirm that the light waves are transverse in nature.
Polarized Light Polarized light waves are light waves in which the vibrations occur in a single plane. The process of transforming unpolarized light into polarized light is known as polarization.
Types of Polarization Plane of Polarization Circularly Polarization Elliptically Polarization
1. Plane of Polarization A plane perpendicular to the plane of vibration is called the plane of polarization. Production of plane polarization: Polarization by reflection. Polarization by refraction. Polarization by double refraction. Polarization by scattering. Polarization by selective absorption.
2. Circularly of Polarization If light is composed of two plane waves of equal amplitude by differing in phase by 90°, then the light is said to be circularly polarized.
3. Elliptically Polarization Elliptical polarization is the polarization of electromagnetic radiation such that the tip of the electric field vector describes an ellipse in any fixed plane intersecting, and normal to, the direction of propagation.
