2. RAKTAPITTA AS MAHAGADA: The physician knowing causes and symptoms should manage promptly the case of Raktapitta which is a great disease ( Maharoga ), greatly forceful ( Mahavega ) and quick acting like fire.

3. NIRUKTI Pitta itself is called as Raktapitta because of conjunction of Pitta with Rakta dhatu , which also affect the Rakta Dhatu and also similarity in its smell and colour .

6. SAMPRAPTI Due to above said nidanas Pitta dosha will undergo prakopa avashtha & Rakta also increase than it’s normal volume, but this increased Rakta ( blood) is vitiated. Vitiated Pitta tends move to Raktavaha srotomoola . Then pitta which is at the entrance of Yakrut causes dushti of Rakta emerging from Yakrut . When Rakta interacts with Pitta then Rakta undergoes dushti . Due to ushna guna of Pitta more drava will be extracted from mamsa etc. dhatus . Thus blood is increased in capillaries & dushta rakta goes on accumulating. Due to increase pressure of raktavaha srotas & increase pitta , endothelium of c apillaries become weak & injured then blood tend to overflow outside the body. Dushta rakta from Amashaya raktastrava tends to move upwards. Dushta rakta from pakwashaya raktastrava tends to move downwards

7. SITE OF RAKTAPITTA The pitta ( raktapitta ) stays located in spleen( Pleeha ) & liver ( Yakrut ) because in persons the blood vessels originate from them.

ASADHYA RAKTAPITTA Raktapitta having following qualities is incurable: Rakta varna : Haridra (yellow) Neela (blue) Harita (green) Tamra (coppery) Krishna (black0 Rakta gandha : Kunapa gandhi Raktapitta passing out excessively through both passages , Associated with Kapha & Vata , Adhering to throat, Having all the complications mentioned earlier, In emaciated & coughing patient is incurable. The Raktapitta is maintainable which is associated with two doshas , which aggravates again & again after subsiding and shifts from one passage to another.

12. SADHYA RAKTAPITTA Raktapitta having following qualities is curable: Which has only one passage Is in a strong person Not very forceful Recently arisen In favourable season Without complications.

13. TREATMENT Stambhana Nishedha : Raktapitta having much impurity and excited and in a person who is not emaciated and weak and takes normal food should not be checkes in beginning. Complications: If checked at the very start, it produces Galagraha , Putinasya , Murchha , Aruchi , Jwara , Gulma , Pleeha , Anaha , Kilasa , krichhamutrata , Kushtha , Arsha , Visarpa , Vivarnata , Bhagandara , Buddhi-Indriyoparodha . Rakta strava : One desiring success ignore, at first, the internal haemorrhage started in a strong patient considering the strength and condition of morbidity. Langhana : Mostly the Raktapitta excited by amadisha of the person aggravates, hence he should be managed with Langhana .

14. AAHARA In Pipasa – Hriberadi pana or Sheetashrita jala . After Langhana – Tarpana in Urdhvaga Raktapitta ( Kharjuradi , Laja )( amla tarpana – tarpana + amalakiswarasa+dadima swarasa ) Peya in Adhoga Raktapitta Bhojana – Sali , Sastika , Nivara type of rice ; Kodara , Prasantika , Shyamaka , Priyangu Yusha – Mudga+Masura+Chanaka+Matha+Adhaki Saka – Nimba patra , Patola patra , Kiratatikta etc. vegetables which are raktapitta nashaka . Mamsa – Kapota , Lava, Shasha , Kapinjala , Ena etc. mamsa are wholesome in raktapitta . Yavagu –Prepared with -1) Masura+Prishniparni 2) Shaliparni+Mudga 3) Kapota etc. mamsa . Pana – Shritashita jala ; Tikta dravya siddha jala ; Trisha shmak rasa.

15. VIHARA In Daha use of following things : Dhara griha (cool water chamber), Bhoomi griha (underground chamber), Beautiful park cooled with watery air, Contact of utensils made of Vaidurya , Mukta , mni , Gems cooled with cold water , Bed and chairs covered with leaves and flowers of aquatic plants, cold silk cloth, banana leaves & leaves of lotus & water lily. Visit to rivers & lakes, ponds having water lily & lotus flowers, favourite & soothing naaratives pacify Raktapitta .

CHIKITSA UPKRAMA Nidana parivarjana Samshodhana – Akshina bala & mamsa ; Santarpanothha ; Bahudosha ; Balavana . 1) Urdhvaga – Virechana = Trivrutta churna ; Haritaki churna ; Aragvadha . 2) Adhoga – Vamana = Madana phala churna+Saktu+Madhu+Sarkara 3)After samshodhana - Urdhvaga = Tarpana Adhoga = Yavagu krama if vata is not aggravated. Samshamana – Atrushadi kwath Rakta prayog = Jangala desha pashu pakshi Rakta+madhu If blood is clotted Vista of pigeon with honey. Churna = Ushiradi churna ; Kirattiktadi churna Peya = Ushiradi peya;priyangu peya Vatanubandha-kshirapana or drakshadi yoga Ghrita = Vasa ghrita ; Shatavryadi ghrita
