London 2 - River Thames separates London into Northern and Southern halves - 215 miles long from South East to South West England - River Thames is the second largest river in the UK, the first is the River Severn – 220 miles - London’s geography is very flat, no hills or mountains

Mountains England- Scafell Pike Scotland – Ben Nevis (highest)- 1345m Northern Ireland – Slieve Donard Wales- Snowdon The highest mountain in Spain is Teide in Tenerife at 3715m (almost 3x the size of Ben Nevis!) Ben Nevis Mount Teide

Cliffs and valleys Valley – Low area between mountains (can have rivers) Cliffs- Area of rock that is steep 4 Famous example - White cliffs of Dover - Made from chalk - The cliffs are eroded over time to create headlands and bays - Can be seen from France Alkham Valley – near to white cliffs Erosion -> bays and headlands - Bays are formed from soft rock erosion -Headlands are from hard rock erosion

Memorable UK landscapes Giants causeway in Northern Ireland - Natural wonder - 40,000 columns from the seabed - Ancient volcanic eruption Loch Ness in Scotland - Lake in the Scottish Highlands - Deepest lake in the UK and contains more water tha n all the lakes from England and Wales combined - Home to the ‘Loch Ness Monster’ (mythical creature that people have claimed to see)
