Origin of UN The word UN was first given by san Francisco (American president). Fist world war (1914 – 1999) established the league of nations. 2 nd world war (1993-1945) had brought misery to all the world. million of people was killed , hunger , homeless and suffer from poverty and disease. The conscience of man was roused and he cried , “ let there be an end to war . Let there be peace and goodwill on earth. Failures of United Nation United Nation become a tool in the hands of big powers and the have used to accomplish their vested interests. During the cold war period the right of war used by one big power Five permanent members of UN 1. United kingdom 2. France 3. United state of America 4. Russia 5. China
From 1945 to 1966 it was veto by 111 times (USSR 103 , France 4 , uk 3 , and China 1). Up till now it has been used 279 times. Cambodia (the Khmer R ouge 1975-79) when Vietnam intervened to free the country and to establish self –administration of Cambodia. 2.5 million Cambodian nationals were killed . The Rwandan Genocide in 1994 nearly a million Rwandans were killed about 20% of the entire population.
The darfur crisis in the Sudanese civil war (2003 – 2010) un’s failure to intervene and save the lives of civilians from Sudan who had face systemic murder at the hands of a militant group the Janjaweed , which is funded by Sudanese government. Sri Lankan civil war in 2009 government over the killing of separatist group members, thousand of Tamils , who were murder by government troops.
