First Aid for Musculoskeletal Issues/Injuries Muscle Cramps, Sprain, Strain, Dislocation, and Fracture Interactive Activities and Games Included

Muscle Cramps • Sudden, involuntary contraction of a muscle • Causes: Dehydration, overuse, lack of minerals • First Aid: Stretch the muscle, massage gently, apply heat/cold, drink water • Treatment: Hydration, gentle stretching, warm compress, or cold packs if pain persists.

Sprain • Stretching or tearing of ligaments • Causes: Sudden twists or impacts • First Aid: RICE Method (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) • Treatment: Rest for at least 48 hours, continue compression, avoid putting weight, and use pain relievers if necessary.

Strain • Overstretching or tearing of muscle/tendon • Causes: Overexertion, improper lifting • First Aid: RICE Method, pain relief medications if needed • Treatment: Gradual stretching, applying ice for 48 hours, then heat, and physical therapy if needed.

Dislocation • Bones forced out of their normal position • Causes: Trauma, falls, collisions • First Aid: Immobilize the joint, do not attempt to realign, seek medical attention • Treatment: Immobilization with a splint, applying ice packs to reduce swelling, and seeking emergency medical help.

Fracture • Break in a bone • Causes: Falls, direct impact, accidents • First Aid: Keep the area still, apply a splint, seek medical help • Treatment: Immobilize using a splint, control bleeding if open wound, keep the person still, and seek medical attention immediately.
