Vancouver style. • Author Surname followed by Initials. • Title of article followed by double quotation. • Title of journal (abbreviated). • Date of Publication followed by double quotation. • Volume Number. • Issue Number in bracket. • Page Number. Vancouver Style does not use the full journal name, only the commonly- used abbreviation: “New England Journal of Medicine” is cited as “N Engl J Med”.

DEFINITION Research utilization is the use of findings from a study or set of studies in a practical application that is unrelated to the original research. Research utilization is the process of synthesizing, disseminating, and using research generated knowledge to make an impact on or change in the existing practices in the society.
Types of research utilization 1. Indirect /Conceptual Utilization : Involving or bringing changes in nurses thinking . 2 . Direct/Instrumental Utilization Involving direct use or application of knowledge in patient care. 3. Persuasive /convincing Utilization: Convincing or persuading the organization by showing the evidence and bringing changes in practice.
Rogers 'Theory Of Diffusion Of Innovations
Research utilization process Knowledge stage is the first awareness of the existence of an innovation or a new idea for use in practice . In the persuasion stage an attitude is formed towards the innovation . Decision stage involves adopting or rejecting the innovation Implementation stage involves using the new idea to change practice. Confirmation stage is the stage of reinforcement of decision.
