Design and Development of an Academic Tracking System for General Aidid School In Galinsoor The title of my study is "Design and Development of an Academic Tracking System for General Aidid School." We chose this topic because the school currently faces challenges with manual record-keeping, which leads to inefficiencies and errors. Developing an academic tracking system will improve the efficiency and accessibility of student records.

Introduction to the Project Introduction to the Project The Problem Statement Purpose of the Project Scope of the System Methodology - Design & Population Key Features / Functionalities Results / Findings (Testing & Implementation) Recommendations for Future Use Conclusion of the Study

Introduction to the Project Transition from manual to automated educational systems globally due to advancements in ICT. Focus in Africa on overcoming infrastructure issues and enhancing data reliability in educational administration. In Somalia, reliance on outdated manual record-keeping leads to inefficiencies, data loss, and security risks. The academic tracking system aims to streamline administrative tasks, enhance data security, and improve communication

The Problem STATEMENT General Aidid School uses outdated manual systems for tracking student performance, attendance, and academic records, which are often inaccurate and inefficient. Risk of data loss and obstruction of timely communication and decision-making among administrators, teachers, and parents. Parents feel disconnected from their children's educational experiences. Identified problems include errors and data loss in manual record-keeping, lack of a centralized system, difficulties in tracking attendance and performance, limited parental access, and disorganized financial tracking.

Purpose of the Project The purpose of the system is to improve the way student data is managed. It aims to help teachers record information quickly, give administrators real-time access to academic data, and allow parents to monitor their children's performance easily through an online platform.

Project Objectives To design and implement an academic tracking system to address inefficiencies and challenges of manual methods. Improve management of student grades, attendance, and overall progress tracking through a centralized platform. Empower teachers, provide real-time access for administrators, and offer secure access for parents. Research Gap (Implicit in Problem Statement): The urgent need for innovative solutions in Somalia due to outdated manual systems, data loss, and security risks, which this project aims to address

Scope of the System Focus: Managing academic records (grades, attendance, progress reports) for students at General Aidid School. Users: Provides specific access for administrators, teachers, students, and parents. Exclusions: Does NOT cover financial administration, class scheduling, or staff management functionalities.

Methodology - Design & Population Study Design: Focused on practical system development tailored for General Aidid School. Approach: Employs Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies for structured planning, design, and testing. Population: Target users include teachers, administrators, and parents of General Aidid School.

Results / Findings (Testing & Implementation) Development Stage: The provided document is a proposal; actual results from an implemented system are pending. Testing: System underwent multi-stage testing (unit, integration, system, user). Implementation: All tests were passed successfully, and the system was installed. Tools Used: Developed using PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Recommendations for Future Use Training: Provide comprehensive training for teachers and parents on system usage. Maintenance: Ensure regular system updates and data backups for security and efficiency. Expansion: Explore possibilities of expanding the system for use in other schools across Somalia. Security: Prioritize and continuously uphold data security and privacy measures.

Conclusion of the Study Significance: The academic tracking system is a major advancement for General Aidid School. Problem Resolution: Effectively addresses key issues like data loss, inefficiency, and poor communication. Technological Impact: Demonstrates the power of technology to improve educational outcomes. Context: Particularly impactful in low-resource environments like Somalia, fostering a more effective learning ecosystem.
