SOLAR CELL Comparison between various types of solar cell and information about each of them
What is solar cell? A solar cell, or photovoltaic cell, is an electrical device that converts the energy of light directly into electricity by the photovoltaic effect, which is a physical and chemical phenomenon.
Types of Popular Solar Panel: Basically there are mainly 3 types of solar panel available in the Indian market. A) Polycrystalline. B) Monocrystalline. C) Bifacial.
Polycrystalline solar panel A) Each Photo Voltic (PV) cell is made of multiple silicon crystal fragment that are made together during manufacturing. It is also called “Multi crystalline panels ”. B) This panels can be identified by its “Blue-hued” PV cells with straight corners. C) Its efficiency is slightly less as compared to Monocrystalline PV cells. D) This panels have lower price as its manufacturing process is simpler. E) Price Rs. 15-25/Watt
Monocrystalline Solar Panel Each PV cells are made of a single silicon crystal. These are sometimes called “mono solar panels” It can be identified by its BLACK PV cells with rounded or octagonal corners. Its efficiency is slightly grater than Polycrystalline PV cells. This panels are costlier than polycrystalline panels as its manufacturing process is complex. Price – Rs. 25-30/Watt
Bifacial solar panel This panel is efficient than both the previous PV panels. It can generate power in both side of the panel. It is also more costlier than previous two panels. Price Rs. 40-45/Watt
