Definition: Abnormal heart rhythm that originates from the ventricles, which can be > 100 b/m, even up to 250 b/m On ECG it can also be interpreted as wide QRS complex of > 0.12 milliseconds. It can also be 3 or more consecutive beats on the ECG, or premature ventricular contractions. (PVCs)
RATE: 150 b/m RHYTHM: - R-R: regular - P- WAVE : no pulse -P- ORS: AV dissociation - QRS: wide QRS complex Classification of VT Based on morphology Monomorphic VT Polymorphic VT Torsades De Pointes ( polymorphic with QT prolongation) Right ventricular outflow tract tachycardia Fascicular tachycardia Bidirectional VT Ventricular Flutter Ventricular fibrillation
Based on duration Sustained – Duration > 30 seconds or requiring intervention due to hemodynamic instability. Non-sustained- 3 or more consecutive ventricular complexes terminating spontaneously in < 30 seconds.
