“I feel like I’m waiting for something that isn’t going to happen.”
To us, WAITING is WASTING. To God, WAITING is WORKING.
IN THE PROCESS OF WAITING: GOD IS WORKING

GENESIS 15:1 After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not fear, Abram, I am a shield to you; Your reward shall be very great.”
GENESIS 15:2-3 2 Abram said, “O Lord God, what will You give me, since I am childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” 3 And Abram said, “Since You have given no offspring to me, one born in my house is my heir.”
GENESIS 15:4 Then behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “This man will not be your heir; but one who will come forth from your own body, he shall be your heir.”
HEBREWS 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
LAMENTATIONS 2:17 (NIV) The Lord has done what he planned; he has fulfilled his word, which he decreed long ago…
GENESIS 15:5 And He took him outside and said, “Now look toward the heavens, and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.”
GENESIS 15:6 Then he believed in the Lord ; and He reckoned it to him as righteousness.
DO your RESPONSIBILITY
GENESIS 17:9-10 9 God said further to Abraham, “Now as for you, you shall keep My covenant, you and your descendants after you throughout their generations. 10 This is My covenant, which you shall keep, between Me and you and your descendants after you: every male among you shall be circumcised.
GENESIS 17:11 And you shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin, and it shall be the sign of the covenant between Me and you.
PROVERBS 24:27 Prepare your work outside And make it ready for yourself in the field; Afterwards, then, build your house.
MATTHEW 28:19-20 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
GENESIS 17:15-16 15 Then God said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai , but Sarah shall be her name. 16 I will bless her, and indeed I will give you a son by her. Then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations ; kings of peoples will come from her.”
GENESIS 17:5 5 “No longer shall your name be called Abram, But your name shall be Abraham; For I have made you the father of a multitude of nations.
GENESIS 17:17 17 Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, “Will a child be born to a man one hundred years old? And will Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child ?”
GENESIS 17:18 And Abraham said to God, “Oh that Ishmael might live before You!”
Who is Ishmael?
GENESIS 16:1-2 Now Sarai , Abram’s wife had borne him no children , and she had an Egyptian maid whose name was Hagar. 2 So Sarai said to Abram, “Now behold, the Lord has prevented me from bearing children . Please go in to my maid; perhaps I will obtain children through her.” And Abram listened to the voice of Sarai .
GENESIS 16:4 He went in to Hagar, and she conceived;
GENESIS 16:11-12 11 The angel of the Lord said to her further, “Behold, you are with child, And you will bear a son; And you shall call his name Ishmael, Because the Lord has given heed to your affliction. 12 “He will be a wild donkey of a man, His hand will be against everyone, And everyone’s hand will be against him; And he will live to the east of all his brothers.”
GENESIS 16:15 So Hagar bore Abram a son; and Abram called the name of his son, whom Hagar bore, Ishmael.
MATTHEW 6:33 33 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
BENEFITS OF WAITING Waiting on the Lord produces a greater trust in the Lord as PROVIDER Waiting protects us from the often disastrous consequences of IMPETUOSITY. Waiting leaves room for God to WORK Waiting liberates us from the fear of losing what is most precious to us
CONSEQUENCES OF NOT WAITING You’re out of God’s will. Your blessings are delayed, or even denied. We bring pain upon ourselves and others.
Delay your want in this world to get what you really want from the LORD
PROVERBS 19:21 Many plans are in a man’s heart, But the counsel of the Lord will stand.
If you are waiting on God, do not doubt Him. At the midnight of an hour, he will come through; NOT TO LATE , NOT TO EARLY , but RIGHT ON TIME. GUARANTEED. -Beatrice Garret-
GENESIS 17:18-19 18 And Abraham said to God, “Oh that Ishmael might live before You!” 19 But God said , “No, but Sarah your wife will bear you a son , and you shall call his name Isaac ; and I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.
NOTE (d) with THANKS
GENESIS 21:1-2 Then the Lord took note of Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had promised. 2 So Sarah conceived and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the appointed time of which God had spoken to him.
GENESIS 21:4-5 4 Then Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him. 5 Now Abraham was one hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him.
GENESIS 21:6-7 6 Sarah said, “God has made laughter for me; everyone who hears will laugh with me.” 7 And she said, “Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have borne him a son in his old age.”
GENESIS 21:8 8 The child grew and was weaned, and Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned.

Abraham waited 25 years to have a son; and soon became the father of all nations. Jacob waited 14 years before he could be with Rachel Joseph waited 13 years in Egypt to be meet with his family. David waited 15 years to become king. 8 years of which he was being chased by Saul who wanted him killed.
If God is making you wait, you’re in a very good company.
ISAIAH 40:31 Yet those who wait for the Lord Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.
BREAK OUT QUESTIONS: Is it hard for you to wait? Why or Why not? What do you think is worth waiting for? How to make your “waiting time” productive? What would be your application in order for you to apply the “Waiting Principle.”
