Waste Generation in India

Emergency Planetary It’s High Time !!!!!!! Alarming Situation

The Delhi Garbage Dump Is Almost As Tall As Qutub Minar So Clearly Shit Is Hitting The Ceiling

Then and Now Yamuna River

Gasification and Pyrolysis

Gasification , is applied to solid waste materials and biomass, it is increasingly being used for the disposal of wastes . Gasification is a thermo-chemical process in which wastes, including their  biomass content is heated, in an oxygen deficient environment to produce a low-energy gas containing hydrogen, carbon monoxide and methane . The Low Energy gas then be used as a fuel in a turbine or combustion engine to generate electricity. What is Gasification ??

Gasification

Pyrolysis is another emerging technology, sharing many of the characteristics of gasification. With gasification partial oxidation of the waste occurs, whilst with pyrolysis the objective is to heat the waste in the complete absence of oxygen . Gas , olefin liquid and char are produced in various quantities. The gas and oil can be processed, stored and transported, if necessary and combusted in an engine, gas turbine or boiler. Char can be recovered from the residue and used as a fuel, or the residue passed to a gasifier and the char gasifed . What is Pyrolysis ??

PRODUCTION & SUPPLY OF CBG Under SATAT (Sustainable Alternative towards Affordable Transportation) launched by Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas with PSU Oil Marketing Companies i.e . IOC, BPCL and HPCL under The National Policy on Biofuels 2018

SATAT Initiative CBG plants to be set up By CBG Transportation to Fuel Station Benefit to Both Vehicle-users as well as Farmers

SATAT Initiative Highlights 5,000 CBG plants to be rolled out across India in next 5 years. The minimum designed capacity 2 TPD of CBG. By-products Marketing by Entrepreneurs ( Eg . Manure, CO2, Fertlizer etc) Production off take guarantee by Government. No restriction on the technology choice

Substrates to be Used in SATAT Agricultural residues, MSW Sugarcane press mud, Distillery spent wash Cattle dung and Sewage treatment plant waste Rotten potatoes & Vegetables from cold storages Chicken/poultry litter Food waste, Horticulture waste Forestry Residues STP sludge, ETP sludge etc Substrates to be used for SATAT projects

Financial Assistance for SATAT projects MNRE capital subsidy : Rs. 8.33 Millions (0.11 Mil Euro)/MT CBG produced per day generated from 2500 m3/day biogas, with a maximum of Rs.100 Million (1.3 Mil Euro) per project ( Rs. 3333 per m3/day Biogas ) 100% Income Tax Holiday for 5 years OMC purchase rate of CBG @ Rs. 46/Kg + GST ( i.e. 0.6 Euro/kg)

PRODUCTION & SUPPLY OF CBG and COMPOST f rom Cattle Dung and Solid Waste in Farms Under GOBAR-DHAN ( Galvanising Organic Bio-Agro Resources through Solid and Liquid Waste Management (SLWM) component of Swachh Bharat Mission- Gramin (SBM-G )

AD – Status & Futuristic Requirements in India FAECAL SLUDGE AND SEPTAGE TREATMENT PLANTS (FSTP) ON DESIGN, BUILD, OPERATE & TRANSFER (DBOT) BASIS IN ULB Telangana State Case study

ASCI , E&Y, university of Chicago are guiding the Government of Andhra Pradesh in this area and AP government has set up a special purpose vehicle Swatch Andhra Corporation to realise their goals. Telangana is the first State in India to come forward to implement FSTP. Typical size of faecal sludge to be treated will be in the range of 25 - 50 kld . A cluster of plants will be grouped to give it to one contractor so that it is viable. The bidding will be per capex + 10 year O&M. Hybrid Annuity Model will be followed - Some portion of Capital Cost (say 40%) will be paid during construction & balance Capital Cost (say 60%) and O&M charges will be paid during the 10 year O&M period. Supply of faecal waste is the responsibility of ULB . TS has taken necessary steps in this regard, the transporters are identified and the transport vehicles are Geotagged .
