Web Technologies Exploring the Web Fields

Website A website is a collection of related network web resources, such as web pages, multimedia content, and so on, that are typically identified with a common domain name and published on at least one web server. Websites can be accessed via a public Internet Protocol (IP) network, such as the Internet, or a private local area network (LAN), by referencing a uniform resource locator (URL) that identifies the site. Websites can have many functions and can be used in various ways; a website can be a personal website, a corporate website for a company, a government website, an organization website, etc. Websites are typically dedicated to a particular topic or purpose, such as news, education, commerce, entertainment, or social networking. Hyperlinking between web pages guides the navigation of the site, which often starts with a home page. Users can access websites on a range of devices, including desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones. The software application used on these devices is called a web browser.

Webpage A web page or webpage is a document, commonly written in HTML (Hypertext Markup Language), that is viewed in an Internet browser. It can be accessed by entering a URL (Uniform Resource Locator) address into a browser’s address bar1. A web page may contain text, graphics, and hyperlinks to other web pages and file. A web page provides information to viewers, including pictures or videos to help illustrate important topics. A web page may also be used as a method to sell products or services to viewers1. Multiple web pages make up a website. For example, you access a web page when you click a link provided by a search engine. The Internet consists of millions of web pages, with more being added daily.

Webhosting – Make the web documents live Web hosting is a service that allows organizations and individuals to post a website or web page onto the Internet. A web host, or web hosting service provider, is a business that provides the technologies and services needed for the website or webpage to be viewed on the Internet. Websites are hosted, or stored, on special computers called servers. When Internet users want to view your website, all they need to do is type your website address or domain into their browser. Their computer will then connect to your server and your webpages will be delivered to them through the browser. Most hosting companies require that you own your domain in order to host with them. If you do not have a domain, the hosting companies will help you purchase one
