WEIGHING BALANCE DONE BY, ZUVAIRIYA. A III-Biotechnology Bon Secours College For Women, Thanjavur
INTRODUCTION Weighing balance is a device used to measure weigh/Mass These are also known as mass scales, weight scales , mass balance, weight balance, or balance scale. The traditional scale consist of two plates
PRINCIPLE The basis of rapid and exact working method of our weigh cells is the principle of “ELECTRO MAGNETIC FORCE RESTORATION” The basic principle is compared to a simple beam balance The weight is laid on one side of the beam. The result is that the coil attached to the other side of the beam tries to move out of the magnetic field of the magnet
PRINCIPLE The amplifier maintains the right current to keep the level balanced with the mass on the pan As more weight is applied to the pan, the current is increased to maintain the lever platform The counteracting force that is created is measured and translated The resulting electric current is then translated into a displayed number that is shown to the user.
PROTOCAL AND WORKING 1.WEIGHING BY DIFFERENCE: The mass of the chemical is calculated by subtracting the weight of an empty container from the total weight of the container
2.TARING THE BALANCE The balance is set to ignore the mass of the container so the mass of the added chemicals is measured directly Place the empty container on the pan and close the draft sheild Press the bar so the bar displays reads 0.000g The balance is now set to ignore the mass of the container
DIFFERENT TYPES OF BALANCES ANALYTICAL BALANCE: Analytical balances are found throughout the most laborotories. They are mostly used to weigh the substances and sample between 0.01 to 500mg An analytical balance measures masses to within 0.0001 g Use these balances when you need this high degree of precision
Analytical balance These unit measuring pans are usually encased in a glass box so as to prevent any dust particles settling in the pan
MICRO BALANCE Micro balances are generally designed to measure weigh and provide data on the tiniest of samples Most models can effectively provide data for samples weighing between 6 and 0.0001mg These types of balances are generally used to weigh highly valuable substances in minute quantities
GOLD AND CARAT BALANCE Gold and carat balances, as the name implies are designed to weigh gold as well as give carat values These are more commonly found in jewellery design workshops and retail jeweller outlets They are also used to measure and provide carat values
SPRING BALANCE Spring balance or spring scales measure weight by balancing the force due to gravity against the force on a spring whereas a balance or pair of scales using a balance beam compare masses by balancing the weight of an unknown by mass of an object against the known weight mass or masses.
