What Is a Sister City?

Introduction Ellis Island Medal of Honor award-winner Niranjan Shah works as the CEO and chairman of Globetrotters Engineering Corporation. Invested in the support of both his native India and his adopted hometown of Chicago, Illinois, Niranjan Shah is actively involved with the Delhi Committee of Chicago Sister Cities International as its vice-chair. The Delhi Committee is part of a larger organization called Sister Cities International, which partners different communities from around the world in order to develop positive international relationships, celebrate differences, and further cultural understanding.

Sister City Some chapters of Sister Cities International, such as the Delhi Committee chapter, host educational and cultural events, perform volunteer work, and participate in festivals and fundraisers. Additionally, chapters may host exchange programs in the interest of furthering cities’ business, cultural, educational, and technical knowledge. To date, the Sister Cities program has paired 522 locations in the United States with cities from 143 countries worldwide.
