3. WILFLEY TABLE A sand Table that separates heavy mineral particles from Lighter gangue by means of longitudinal riffles impending the downward flow and a horizontal reciprocating motion carrying the heavy particles off the end of the table.it is used for grinding materials of 500 mesh size.

4. Wilfley Table Concentration Method Wilfley’s Table is made by fixing narrow , thin and long wooden riffles on an inclined surface . The Table is given a regular vibrating motion . The powdered ore obtained from lumps of the ore using ball mill is fed on the top of Wilfley’s table and running stream of water is also released from the upper side . As a result, the lighter gangue particles are carried away and heavy ore particles in which proportion of minerals is more, settle between the wooden riffles fixed on the table and get collected on the slits between them.

5. Water wash The feed edge of the table has a water spray bar. This water is adjusted to provide a gentle wash across the table. The action of the table creates inverse classification and stratification, i.e. each mineral of a certain specific gravity is arranged according to size. Due to the motion the bed moves to the concentrate end. As the height of the riffles decreases towards this end of the table lighter gangue loses the support of the riffles and the wash water carries it towards the lower side of the table into the tails and this then concentrates the remaining heavy mineral. The heavy mineral then moves on to a smooth plane where any fine gangue and larger particles easily rolled by water are washed from the concentrate.

7. Maintenance of the Wilfley Table The head motion drive box should be kept topped up to the required oil level. The rocker arm pockets should be kept free of foreign material and topped up with oil. The table should be kept clean, i.e. no build up should be allowed. All parts including the drive belts should be checked on a regular basis for wear.
